I have always loved SC300's since I can remember. There was always a black sc300/400 sitting out infront of the bank to the south of Wal-mart on 41. It sat on 19's in the back and 18's up front just a simple deep dish 5-spoke but its gotta be one the cleanest looking cars I have ever seen.

So i was going through ebay today and I have seen alot of sc300's with the soarer 1jzGTE Twin turbo motor in them within my price range.

I was wondering if any of the supra guys (namely victor) or anyone could tell me how reliable these engines are and how the react to modifications and how they stack against a 2jz. Obviously the 2jz is larger and has higher power figures stock i mean its a god motor for shit sake.

But how are the transmissions that come with the 1jz. Can they handle the power that the 1jz makes or will i be pulling the transmission soon after I hit 350 or 400whp mark?

I honestly have no clue how strong the 1jz are. I know if they have a soarer 5 speed tranny it would be a r154, really it depends how they have been treated on how good they are. There aresom,e guys pushing them upwards of 500-600hp, I think what you want to do is replace the thrust washer with a stronger one, that is their weak point.

in the transmission? Do you know how strong the R154 is?

I love the SC300 for its comforts and looks and i think a TT I-6 would help it move out okay ;). They are putting out 500~600whp on stock internals?

I mean the trany, I am not sur ehow good stok internals are on tthe motors.

Why not just get an NA-T, I mean the motor is good to over 700hp and its a 3.0.

Just throw a thicker head gasket on there and you are good to go.

edit: also the crank and the rods are the same between the 2 motors.

not sure on pistons lol, I think those are different the 2JZGE, the GTE had oil squirters for the pistons and the GE does not.

I think they are lol. I know if it ever some time for me to build my engine Ill just get an NA bottom end for $300 and built it.

check out clubna-t.com for a lot of info on that stuff.

i can drag a video up of the r154 running mid tens (rebuilt but not built if i remember right.)... And i believe that the difference in the 1jz to the 2 jz is mainly in the head design, the 2jz rumored to be better for the US emissions. Lots of stuff out there, and ive read quite a bit. I have a link to a site for 7m or 2 jz to 1jz swaps, and some performance parts for that.

r154 is a fine choice...it can handle 750whp (i plan on testing this). and they are relatively easy to build up to handle 900hp or more. just an estimate, ive heard of being able to hold a little over 1kwhp reliably when built
