my header broke at the flange. so basically its like an open header. it sounds like shit. i went to lee county exhaust and he tacked it up but its still loud as fuck, he said it would be about 4 hours and 300 bucks. So, if anybody knows anybody that does exhaust for cheap or has a 3.8 right side header or has a welder and wants to do it themselvs please let me know.
shoot me a pm or text me 239- 410- 4952
thanks-parker

PM frank. He's basically an automotive ninja, I that heard Jesus uses him for exhaust work (and buys nitrous from him too).

Wouldn't it just be cheaper to buy a used header.. most people with v6 stangs have aftermarket exhaust anyways... because there basically v8's

I would have to say either buy a used on on EBAY, or just a set of cheap performance headers.

^umm?
its the header, rite were it bolts to the flange.
il probaly just go to a junkyard and pick up a header and have em put it on.

you know you don't have headers stock right? That's the reason I asked

I was under the impression: Header = Exhaust manifold. What's the difference?
*edit, I mean obviously no one says a turbo car has a "header" but for NA cars I've always heard them used interchangably.

I asked because there's going to be a difference if he goes to buy one and ask for a header.and exhaust Mani is different on a mustang atleast

i wasnt aware that there was a difference. header/manifold pretty much the same on my car. its stock, so i guess i broke the manifold.

Wow, +1 ive always heard them used interchangably... so... what IS the difference?

this is a header.much more open and less restrictive.you can make alot more power because it isnt all closed up.primaries are alot bigger allowing more air flow.each cylinder has its own pipe to allow gases to escape.

this is a manifold.notice how small and restrictive it is.the primaries are small and dont allow alot of air to flow reducing the amount of hp you can make.all cyliners flow through one tube

thats the same thing in my books. they are both still exhaust manifolds. I guess it is just what you call it.

I can't believe I'm having trouble finding any FF "danger to the manifold" pictures online :(

yeah they do the same thing but its still 2 different parts.

I disagree, just because one is more efficient than another doesnt mean its a different part.

Stock vs aftermarket.
Your stock header is just really inefficient but its still the same thing.

why do they call it two different things then? why not call it a longtube manifold?the answer is there not the same.a manifold is one tube with 4 holes to let gas out.a header is 4(ill just say 4 it could be 3) seperate pipes, one for each cylinder.its like calling a rim a tire.yes it basically does the same thing but it IS 2 different parts

My point for that was that they DO call the stock civic header an exhaust manifold but it is the same design of 4 tubes going to 1 just like the aftermarket one. I think were having some communication problems, I think we both agree and dont realize it lol.

Do some cars come stock w/ headers and come just come w/ a manifold? What's this?:

That would be a shorty header.
There are headers and there are manifolds.. Headers are any type of afteramarket (or possibly stock.. like that picture) exhaust "manifold" that has separate primaries (tubes leading from the exhaust ports individually), and leads to a collector. There are shorties, mid-tubes, and long-tubes.
Exhaust manifolds, are most commonly OEM equipment and they are either log style, or a tubular manifold sort of deal.
To make it less confusing... Stock= exhaust manifold. Exhaust manifold = header but header =/= exhaust manifold.

Ok, last question, I think... So do most american cars come with an exhaust manifold that looks something like this?:
http://i236.photobucket.com/albums/ff141/PBALLDONKEY/manifold.jpg
I think part of the issue causing confusion is that every car I've ever owned has come stock with a header, which is an exhaust manifold. They're used interchangibly b/c it is the same thing, at least in the application that I've seen them used in. No wonder you domestic guys pick up so much power from simple boltons. Crappy engineering ftl.

Yea that was my fault, I misread one of your above posts and then after I posted my response I realized we agreed lol :o

Yeah Scott most American cars are like that.even alot of the 4cyl are like that, the foreign cars usually have something that looks more like a header or a tubular manifold.the main reason I asked in the first place was I diddnt want him to buy a header when he needed a exhaust manifold
