Maglite mounts

I know it may be odd to some of you for a thread on a flashlight...but by now most of you realize how important they are to keep in a car.

anyway, has anyone bought and used the Maglite brand flashlight mounts? I want to know if they are strong and will keep the light in place even when bouncing around offroad or godforbid an accident.

I currently own a 2D, 2x3D, a 5D, and a 3AA LED, and a bunch of minimags.... hurricanes have led to quite a collection

i want to mount a 3D in the rear cargo area of the rover on the window sill like this FJ guy did.

Good idea, I have the rechargable one the po po use, so I have to keep it in the house to charge. But when I go out wheelin I bring it with me and keeping it in those would be nice than trying to secure it under my seat.

In the pic it looks secure enough. You'd have to do some serious bouncing around to jar it loose.

it doesnt look like it should move at all as long as the mounts are secured correctly. If anything, I would say the mount and flashlight could break off if only fastened to thin plastic.

so i got my mounts for Christmas ($4.99 @ bass proshops), as well as a LED bulb for my 3D maglite. I also got a 2D maglite. I installed the brackets on my rear window sill, my worry was that it wouldn't be secure....um that shit isnt going anywhere haha the mounts and where I mounted it is solid as hell.

i also spaced the mounts so that it could hold either a 2D or a 3D flashlite.

thats a really good idea, not a bad idea even for someone with a car to mount in their trunk. i always try to keep a flash light in my car just incase
