Ok, so it's time to buy new front and rear shocks for the montero of doom.

Option 1: Spend $85.95 total for all 4 corners.

or

Here are my performance options. Some accommodate up to a 1'' lift which is nice incase I was to go that route

+1 I own Tokico Blues and their awesome, but theres times that at work we will install a set of shocks and one gets seized within a week or even blows then we are told well you purchased cheap shocks for the customer, but either way their both good brands. If its a DD nothing special no offroad, just keep it with the Tokico.

The tokico's are actually not cheap. Almost double the price of the el chepo advanced auto specials.

hmmm... looked that up. Seems to have some nice kits but I'm kind of lost. Maybe someone can make sense of this or at least explain what components (or kit) I would need. It's a 1991. I wouldn't mind a little lift either.

I see this montero slowly turning into a money pit.

I would get the whole OME kit. Then you could get a little bit bigger tires when the time comes too.

What I'm confused about when it comes to the OME stuff is the differance between buying:

VS.

I'd like to know what the kit includes in addition to the F+R shock and rear coil spring.

This is bad. I'm in the mood to spend some money on the montero.

I think all the parts are individual not pairs. In which case it comes out to 482.

ahhh. Darn you and your correct redneck logic. :D

So then, what are torsions and why might I need them?

Basically you can just crank your stock one. That lift really isn't that much to crank it.

I'M FUCKIN UP

In the matter of an hour I went from wanting a $90 cheapo shock kit for all 4 corners to wanting a $500 complete lift kit. Thanks a lot AnimalPlanet for leading me down this path.

Doesn't Rancho offer a set of Quick Lift shocks that'll give you anywhere from 1-3 inches of lift. I know the Tokico's weren't cheap, i was just stating not to go cheap. If you want an oem type with Heavy duty capability w/o a huge price tag...buy the Monroe Reflex.

I'm looking into the rancho quicklifts now.

EDIT: They don't make them for the montero it seems.

I can maybe hook you up with the Monroe Reflex's if your interested. Even give you an awesome price for the shocks with install. Maybe even cheaper then you'd pay retail for them.

I'm seriously looking into the OME kit for the montero but it only give 1.25'' of lift. I'm thinking I might want a little more if I'm gonna lift it.

OMEs are the shit. thats what i plan on running on my rover down the road. OME HD shocks with RTE HD springs. 2" lift.
