I installed a door lock actuator today.
It has two wires, one blue, one green. If I touch the wires directly to the battery, it works. Green to positive "locks" and Blue to positive "unlocks"

I don't have an alarm or keyless entry. I just want to be able to use it with an on-off-on type of switch so that I can lock and unlock my car with a push of a button/switch.

Can someone tell me how to wire it up?

Here's what I've got...

Actuator
Green wire
Blue wire

Switch
It has three "prongs" on it

Two relays
They are 4 pin

Can someone make this work?

are your relays dual position?

never mind i just saw you said they were 4 pin.

you need to get 2, 5 pin relays or you need two more 4 pin relays

no, it's for the Geo Metro.

and I don't know what a dual position relay is. It's just 4 prong. 85, 86, 87, 30

a dual position has the fifth pin on it. the new one is a resting output. the dual position relays lets you use two relays instead of 4

ah hell. So I should get some 5 pin relays then.

Also, do I have the right switch? or would a DPDT switch be better?

haha. Re-read through the thread. Makes sense.

Advanced auto parts didn't have 5 pins. I will look around tomorrow.

What do I do with them though? :D

you could use a dpdt switch as long as it can hold enough amps to run your power locks.

you just hook a few wires to them and hook them to your car.

with the five pin relays you

split a 12 volt fused wire from a constant source to pin 87 on both relays and to pin 85 on relay 1 and to pin 86 on relay 2.

label them 1 and 2 to keep track of what your doing it gets confusing.

connect pin 87a on both relays to ground(that's the fifth pin you need).

connect pin 86 of relay 1 to one output leg of the spdt switch you have.

connect pin 85 of relay 2 to the other output leg of the switch.

ground the constant leg of the switch.

pin 30 on relay 1 and 2 will be the wires to run the actuators. one pin 30 should be the green and the other pin 30 should be the blue.

now your done

pin 30 will always be grounded on each relay and when you flip the switch in either direction it will change one of them to positive. when you let go the both go back to being grounded and the other direction will make the other relay positive.

i just put power locks in my car and i had to make one of these so my switch would work.
