I'll be there both days, but without my STi. It is getting a new clutch, timing belt (yes it has almost 100K miles), some new plugs and wires, new valve cover gasket (leak) and front seal (leak). Compression check (just for easy sleeping) came back great, so all should be good after I give them almost $3000.00 for everything!!! Next I plan to add some things in prep for STU at a few National Tours. This weekend, I will probably be codriving my sister in-laws Scion TC. I am actually looking forward to it.

I know some of you guys have autox'ed on very worn or bald performance tires (ie azenis, rs2's) How did they handle? Do they loose a lot of grip when the tread is heavily worn?

I think when you drive a miata at auto x you are automatically inducted into some sort of miata driver union. If you get kicked out I'm pretty sure they'd have your back and picket or something.

They have printed numbers that you can buy at .50 cents a number. You hand your license over and they will let you burrow a helmet, free.

I think the alternator went bad in the suby today. When I jump and drive it the battery is dead as soon as I turn the car off.

Whatever though. If I need to I'll bring a jumper box to the event tomorrow. Shitty part is when the battery drains the ECU loses it's memory and it takes like 10 minutes of driving to get it back to normal.

More domestic guys should come out there. I've heard more than a few of them call auto-x gay but if they just tried it they would find that it's one of the more fun/cheap things you can do with a car.

BTW: I fixed the alternator problem with my car so it'll be good to go for tomorrow, besides the bald tires but I'm not worried about that.

it was too cold for me to do anything at low speeds.

best was 33.2 today, off of my best by 2 tenths.

the weight reduction made a big difference in the way the car reacts though, especially in turn-in.

32.7 on street tires, 32.2 on rcomps. Seemed like there's still a lot left in it. The course was super slick today, I was sliding everywhere.

Did any of you guys seem me "allegedly" spin out leaving autocross today? I was driving on the rcomps, drove through the dirt entrance, took a right and came to the 90 degree turn just a little ways down. I took the turn at a very reasonable speed, not pushing it at all and before I knew it I was "allegedly" looking the opposite direction. :rofl1: WTF!

Guess those Rcomps get pretty slick w/ a little dirt on them. :ugh2:

I was scared as shit when I spun, thinking I was gonna stall the car and not be able to crank it... I mean, I was allegedly scared as shit of my alleged spin. But luckily I remembered the whole "two feet in, in a spin" rhyme and I kept it running, I mean, allegedly kept it running. Then, once I got back on the road... I did a pretty sweet burnout to get the dirt off and to redeem myself to anyone that may have happened to see me "allegedly" spin out.

Thats not bad. My best time was 37.364. There is def. room for improvement for me on the slalom and the chicago (?) box. My instructor drove a 35.6xx. He said he could get in the 34s but I didn't want him to drive again. lol

Holy shit, I did too. Felt like complete ass all day Sunday but I'm much better now.

Sunday was a sick course. It was one of the more complicated courses I've seen at GCAC. There were people OC'ing right up to the end. At first I didn't like the course as I usually like fast, less technical courses but by the second run I was enjoying myself.

I even got a re-run for some reason so I ended up getting a re-run so I got 5 runs overall.

FUCKING DOUCHES. ah well.

it was a badass course though, lots of different things to play with.

i enjoyed the course also. the competition in our class is awesome. i got second place only by 0.013 sec. cant get much closer than that. i love good competition.

That course really had my blood pumping. With my shorter gearing I was shifting a bunch, hitting the rev limiter so the course was definitely a handful. It was non stop action throughout the whole course.
