So I guess a new off road park is opening up this weekend. It's on 74 which is just before port charlotte. I'm still trying to figure out exactly where on 74 it is but I'm pretty sure I'm gonna go check it out. Here's a link to a facebook group a guy I know made. He didn't put the exact address though.

So who is down for checking this place out? Looks like a good time.

Sounds like Kelly Park. - I just fixed my wheeler, so I'll probably be ready for the next event. We had a killer ride Sat evening. The mud out here by me is off-the-chain.

Perfect, its drying up out here by me big time. Plus there was a fire there Sunday so most likely the cops are going to be watching.

Well here's the directions I just got from the guy:
Ill give you full directions, If you get off on Bayshore Rd and head toward the Civic Center, You will hit Highway 31. Make a LEFT and go all the way to the orange flashing lights which is 74. Make a RIGHT and go about a mile. You will pass a big flashing tower on the left and it is soon after on LEFT. You cant miss it, they had to widen 74, there is a big ass archway entrance and a warehouse at it. Hope this helps, see you next weekend
Sounds like it's just out past cook and brown. I'll definitely be checking it out. Probably saturday.

So appearently it's 30 for a day or 40 for the whole weekend. Not bad for not having to worry about cops and there should be a shit load of people.

That's a little more than i'd want to pay - is that per head or per truck? we could cram the back of the truck

Sounds interesting but I'd need to confirm it's legitness before driving all the way out there and paying $30.

Yeah, 30 sounds like a bit much... unless they are supplying lunch or something.
Parking/fee's at any other state park is only 5-10 max for a car. Guess I just need to keep working on the Jeep.

most REAL offroad parks (not just mud, they would have rocks, water, mud, elevations, side slopes, blah blah blah) run $25 or less. thats expensive as hell for a mud hole. Its only $50 for a year pass/state vehicle inspection for ALL of the Big cypress preserve to offroad...
but it'd be fun every once in a while to not worry about cops. i guess $30 for one day is better than a massive ticket or jail time. i wonder if they'd let me shoot hogs on the property haha

That's just what I heard from someone. It probably is that though. I would guess it's per vehicle but I don't know. You have to consider the insurance that is involved in running a mudhole. Then I'm sure there is some sort of ems on site. Plus they will be running tractors all day to pull people out. I mean shit, I've spend $30 on a lot dumber stuff than that. Plus the major thing. No risk of cops. Which is becoming more and more rare in southwest Florida.

Having tractors is cool. At least if you get stuck you don't have to run the risk of bending/breaking something by having some random truck yank the shit out you. If you snap a tow strap that $60-$100 right there.

Definitely sounds like Kelly Park. If so, there's supposed to be a but-load of trails and stuff to ride as well as a couple killer mud holes. Also supposed to be full shower facilities. - I've definitely paid more for less. From what I've been told there is atleast one hole where 35's aren't gonna cut it.
The mud is nasty out here by me. I got stuck on the wheeler over the weekend to the point that it took 3 other wheelers daisy-chained to get me out. :SolidStraight: So seriously bottom-less stuff. - There were a bunch of cops hassling the buggies and such though. There have been a lot of redneck morons out shooting guns at night out here so they're cracking down a bit. - We had our wheelers out in the front yard and none of the cops ever even slowed to say anything though.

It is Kelly Park, and it does open this weekend.
I was going, but since the ol' ladys Ranger decided to snap a tie rod yesterday I'll probably be spending the weekend starting the steering conversion on it. Dumbass ford engineers using a escort size rack & pinion/tie-rods on a truck.....I'm just glad it did it as she was pulling into a parking spot, not while running down the road.

Well it was fun. A lot of badass trucks out there. They have couple mudholes, some decent trails through the woods, and even a mud circle track. Only think that sucked is I lost 4x4 in the first hole I went in. I don't know what I broke yet. I spent the day driving through pussy shit and getting stuck. We need to get a group to go though it was a good time.
btw They have some good food there too. I had a gator dog for lunch.

what were the trails like? were they dry?
that sucks about your 4x4. any swamp cabbage being served :yum:?

Not sure about swamp cabbage. lol. I know some of the trails were bad. I saw a lot of dry ones too though. I couldn't go many places because of the 4x4 though so I mainly stayed by the main hole and went down a couple smaller trails. Oh and drank a lot of beer. lol

I don't know if it's the lockers. And if I had auto lockers the way I beat on it I bet they would have broken a long time ago.

They're only planning on running it once a month, so I don't think next weekend is a go.

Yeah they are hoping to do twice a month eventually nut right now is just once a month. To get in all you need is $30. They make you sign a waiver and they search your truck for weapons.

Hopefully next month I won't have a bunch of crap come up all at once that needs to be done. - I't be nice to get out somewhere else, even though the mud around here is awesome right now. Need to put some faces to screen-names anyhow.
