Well, I was supposed to sell some tires to some dude, waited around all afternoon for a call from him. I decided to kill time by inspecting my busted brake line. So I started tinkering with it. Found out all it was was the banjo bolt came loose, hence loosing the brakes.
"Sweet!" Had the roomate pump the pedal as I bled them. Took the truck on a short drive, problem solved. Yay! Still no call.
I havent touched the truck since I got home last week from the epic adventure. I looked through it at all the mud still caked everywhere inside. I took little chunks and started just flopping them onto my driveway. Then moved to full handfulls. After another 30 minutes with no call, I was removing the passanger seats. After an hour, I had 1/2 the carpet out of the truck.
I've since given up of this shithead and are now covered in mud trying to rip the rest of this carpet out. lol. Distractions.

Am it a stock axle? Cause if so, you can send Jeep the last 8 digits of your VIN and in like 2 days you'll get a build sheet for your truck emailed to you. Or you could just take the axle apart. lolz. If you have the Dana 30 (which I thinkers you do, it should be a 27 spline & 3.73 gears)

Ooo I just thought of something, you have a 95 stickshift correct?
Unless you have an "Upcountry" or tow package, you'd have 3.55 ratio, or 3.73 with an auto.

it should be stock. its just that i have a spare d30, and with all the work i need to do to it, and being my dd, it would be easier to just fix the spare one and throw it in there, if the gears were the same of course.

Yeah they should be the same. Only thing is, you wanna make sure both your front and rear axles are at the same gearing. I mean, my buddy ran his Ford 8.8 rear at 4.10 gears and his Dana 44 high pinion at 3.73 gears, he just didn't put in the front driveshaft untill he re-geared.

The only issue with that swap that I could see would be different U-joint setups.
The 89' Larado had ABS, which would give it a 5-297x universal joint where as your 96 is like mine - 297x/760. Worst comes to worse just grab a new yoke and forget about it.

Well I'm not too far behind Areo. Got all the interior parts out and removed all the carpet.
Also took off the front recevier hitch that held the winch. It suffered some severe blows. 3 of the 4 welds are broke on it, but I didn't realize how bad untill I took it off. Its beyond my welding ability, so I'll probably take it to a buddy in Naples this weekend.

Haha, sounds good. Just throw some bedliner in there, and never worry about the water again! I am still finding huge chunks of mud everywhere... I guess once it gets on, it never comes off!
And what kind of tires were you getting rid of?

Sounds good. Glad to hear the brakes problem was an easy fix.
Now for a quick thread hi-jack; any of you jeep guys know of a dana 30 front with abs that I could pick up? My better half is starting to want her Ranger to be 4wd more and more, and if I'm gonna put her in a 4wd mini truck it might as well be solid axle, 4-link and coil-overs. - I'd preffer for it to have abs reluctor rings, but I believe I could swap hubs on any of the later model unit bearing type front axles, correct? - Also, I can weld and properly set-up gears, so would be willing to trade some work as well.

Well.. I have a Dana 30 front end that came with the Jeep (since I needed the bracket), but now that I picked up upgraded brackets... I dont need the axle. I do need the new brackets welded on my axle though :)
Of course, there are no guts in the axle, just the housing, the steering links and the knuckles.

Hmmm, when you had said gutted housing before I assumed there were no knuckles. Assumption = the mother of all f* ups.
My plasma(well a buddies anyway) and both my welder(s) are on a cart that is semi-portable(not overly handy, but it has been done before), but I need a 220v 3 prong outlet with a 50amp minimum breaker within about 35' of whatever need welded. - That's was the issue I was mentioning in your thread.

haha... yeah, gutted as in there are just no gears, or axle shafts. I can get a pic or two tonight.
Hmm... well the 3 prong outlet is the same as a dryer outet right? Not sure what kind of breaker that has, but then again, i do have the water heater which at least has new heavier wiring to it... and I could just swap the breaker out if needed. Dryer is within 5 feet and WH is about 10 feet...
And even if it ended up being too much to drag that stuff over, i would rather tow it to someone who knew what they were doing, instead of a shop that'll charge lots of money, take forever... and who knows about quality. Cuz I know its a pain to work w/o having all the tools that you are used to having.

It's the same plug in as some dryer and water heaters. 3-prong, straight/vertical outers (one smaller than the other) and the large round or square upper.
Yeah, it's definitely not very easy to move. I have to take the plasma off the cart even for two people to be able to lift it. - I'm sure we can work something out.
now canceling thread-jack - pm me if needed.
