I have a 90 CRX Si, and I just put a y8 head onto my d16 block. I still haven't converted to obd1 to enable to Vtec (no money, damned economy), and I have a code 9. I read that has something to do with the Cylinder Position sensor or something to that effect, and one of the common "cures" for the problem is switching two wires on the distributor.
When I opened up the distributor, there was a mass of copper wires all shredded and twisted up inside. Quite a mess... so my friend pulled them out and cleaned the dizzy off with some CRC Electric Parts Cleaner. I'm still getting a code 9, and the car jumps and sputters fairly often while driving, but not anywhere near as bad before we pulled out the wire-mess and cleaned it.
Two questions...
What wires have to be switched, and how do you go about switching them?
If I do this, is it a permanent fix, or would I be better off getting a new dizzy anyways?
Excuse the ignorance, I'm really not that good with cars yet. Still in the learning process. And I know this isn't a CRX-specific community, but I figured I'd give it a shot.
