found this on an xterra forum. basically this guy took your standard closet shelving from homedepot and made an overhead storage unit in the back of his xterra. thought it was a cool basic idea, definetly needs to be refined but take a look.

I like that.. It beats mounting it down low, because obviously you use the floor space quite a bit more.
But if you made some sort of shelf like that, and then just covered it in a fabric to match the headliner... hells yeah. I'll definately be saving the pictures for inspiration.

^oh yeah!!
I've been thinking about something like that for my amp, because after the snorkel goes on, I don't think the amp will be safe on the back of the seat.

Theres a company, I think Rugged Ridge or something, makes a cargo bay shelve system. I'm reallly considering making one. The 2 12" subs take away half the space already, plus my tool chest back there. And a few weeks ago offroad when the truck flooded, I had all my good clothes back there, and they got trashed. Storing things up high is a decent idea.

yeah i know the company you are talking about. They also make a hanging bag system too, they were gonna do a group special for some discoveries but the prices were outrageous and would only work if you did alot of modification. this is a much better option IMO

bump for patrick. looks like you need the shelving, D rings, and mounting points for the drings if you want it to be removable.

Yeah 10-4 BUT heres the thing - I dont want it to look like a womans' closet back there -so we're gonna have to come up with some sort of way to dress up the appreance.
edit - I'm digging the D Ring setup as well = looks the part and easy for removal.
As for my other issue with it, do you think they spray painted that one?

the shelf might fall out of the d rings due to vibration... unless you used an s hook or something..
