Damb sure was one hell of a street car. Very glad to see all the safety equipment do it's job and Forrest walk away. - Cars can be replaced, people cannot.

For any one who can, Roy and I talked about getting some donations together for Forrest. He does not have medical insurance, and he's un-sure about what/if the car's going to be covered.

From what I understand hes in getting a cat scan now. They dont know the results but hes going to be fine. Was a scary moment to say the least, to see your friend hit the wall at 148 is no fun. Just glad to see him get out without major injury. Let me know how I can help JP, I dont have alot of coin to help but will do what I can to help.

I have some good pics of the carnage but my computer decide to crap out on me today when I got back, Ill get them up as soon as I can.

edit: got tree'd by Pro-Mo, but yes, he should be ok, just sore for a while.

His cousin just posted for him on the other forum. Said he's in the hospital, headed for a CT scan now. Hopefully have some updates soon.

With the chunk he took out of the wall and the severity of the damage to the car, he definitely needs to get checked out to make sure everything is ok.

Today at DH9, A great friend of mine, a great member of this site and an overall great person in general was in a serious crash today hitting the wall at over 140 mph. He is in the hospital right now and unfortunately doesn't have medical insurance and on top of that his car is totalled with little to nothing being salvageable.

Forrest would never ask for help, but right now, one of our own really needs our help, So I'm asking you PLEASE, Do what you can to help him out. whether it be $1 or $100, every bit is going to help.

The paypal address is Fo's5.0@need2speed.com or you can give it to me in person.

In addition to this, Roy@aftermath performance will be hosting a dyno day in the next month in which 1/2 of all $ will go to him, detail about this to follow shortly in a new thread.

I am starting this out donating $50 to the fund, thanks for reading, and please guys, do what you can to help. Thank you.

do you know why it happened? Mechanical failure or driver error etc..

from what was said, his axle sheered as he crossed the traps. Not sure if this was the problem or not. I would highly rule out driver error

As has been posted; from several of us looking it over, it appears the passengers' axle broke off at the flange/c-clip eliminator and caused the crash. The car is gone, but there are many small items that will be salvagable to help him pick up and move on.

Anyone who can, please help out. Every little bit counts. We can all skip a soda or a burger and pitch in to help someone who would do the same for us.

Donated.

I'm so glad he is alright.

He had a CatScan and n MRI last night, they cleared him as being O.K.

His chest is really sore, but not where the belts were strapped in, but dead center chest.

I believe the impact of the crash must have bent something, because his steering colum is bent, so odds are, thats what hit him the hardest.

Let this be a learning lesson for all of us.

PROPER SAFETY EQUIPMENT!

Do you think if you hit the wall at 140mph like that, you would be able to walk away under your own power? How would your car or truck hold up?

I'm just glad I still have a good friend that could answer the phone today. This could of gone the bad way so easily.......

I told him this morning, whoever built your cage is doing mine. and I'm not even fast enough for a cage yet, but I'm putting one in.

So many times we keep dumping tons n tons into performance and nothing into safety.

Be safe out there gang.

side note - his builder got out of the business a few years ago.

As twisted as it was, the steering wheel may very well have hit him and then bent back toward/into the dash as the front end folded under the car.

The cage did it's job; there's a very good reason for to have the proper safety equipment.

werd, any car hitting a wall at 148 is going to crush like a tin can.... without the proper safety equipment.

Oddly enough I had just stumbled across the crash pics of our old camaro Friday before this happened. - 6.07 @107 isn't bad when it's tripping the beams on it's roof on fire......

If you can't laugh it off, it'll just haunt you forever. We spent the better part of 14 years building on and racing that car. I wasn't the one in the seat when it happened, but only because the old man said he would go ahead and make the first pass that day.

Live and learn. We disected that car to save what we could and learned a lot about what did what during the impact. I have designed several extra features into the new car as a result. - The only thing we would have done differently after the fact was to have barried it in the back yard with a stone, "here lies a beloved friend..." would have been a lot better than the $12 from Garden St.
