lols, maybe not a 31, but i think the car could do a 32.3 or so on street tires if i could drive it to that. well, i know it can... when i let laslo kis drive the car he did a 32.5 on azenis and the old suspension... just gotta get that last half second or so, which is always the hardest.

no luck, i got to work at 2pm and they make you work the course on sundays so i couldnt get out of it early enough to run. plus this bullshit torque management needs to come off before i have some fun, it pulls timing to like 12 degree positive at redline.

i believe his best was somewher in the 35s, i dont think it was clean though.
i also drove his cousins focus, the white one that you drove and put up a low 35..
i missed it alot, im hoping to get with it again, and hopefully start doing some more auto-x/cart racing/drift events in the near future
the only thing about autocross, is, ill be welding the diff in the 240 pretty soon, so, not ever really driving a rwd car with a welded diff, i dont really know how it will be out there..
i would think that if im smart with the throttle i should be ok, but, we'll see.

No scan or pic of the map.. Its in my cup holder, but it was a fast less technical course. I was in the 69-70 range along with Casco. I think the fastest time of the day was around 62. I was near the top of 3rd on a certain part on the front stretch.

Well I just finished re-doing the brake job I jacked up a few weeks ago.:o I didn't lube the sliders or the edges of the front pads. My right front was getting stuck and smoking. :sprachlos020:
I was getting brake fade before the end of side A. I never get any fade on an autocross track. But today, it was enough to take me off my game.
Oh well. Next time is only a few short weeks away, and the brakes are ready.:)
My new tires will match at all 4 corners too. (The old set is way done)

it was a pretty legit day. the course was a good mix.
im still learning the new setup of the car, so i expect to do better (relatively) over the next few events. i wasn't anywhere near what the car could do yet on the turnaround and slalom. but my first time out with the new setup doing that well made me happy.
it finally does what i want, instead of fighting back... like a good bitch.

I need more seat time. It was roughly 5 years between my last Road Race event (Willow Springs, CA) and my first Autocross event with GCAC last May. After 8 events I still feel really rusty. I'd love to do what I did back home and travel to events every weekend, but my work schedule does not allow it. Part of having a career and growing up I guess. I think I'm going to start requesting the entire weekend off when the events come up. Maybe the Saturday practice will allow me to put together consistent clean runs, and knock to rust off. Instead of going from a 69.6 to a 71 during the course of my 4 runs.

You need to come out and drive more. I wish that I could be there next Saturday, but I will have someone visiting. I would love to have you ride along with me these days. I hope to improve my car's setup and my driving enough to be in the 29s by the end of the season. I was at 30.7 with a weak clutch and significantly less power. Next month I will be there but the car won't be ready for a 29 anything. This Sunday we have a members' family and fun day, so I will get to drive at least 15 laps on a full course. Its one of the best parts of being a member. We always open the course up a little to make sure we can play with some speed.

veloce23
March 25th, 2009, 11:29 PM
I did not drive well on my first two Sunday runs, then I hit a cone on the final run. I still wouldn't have pulled past first, but it was good to be only .158 sec off of Corey Ridgick after day 1. I ended up 4th out of seven. Corey was .2 sec faster than my raw time on Sunday still, so he and other drivers were very encouraging about my driving. They all stressed that I need to finish my setup and keep working on having great first two runs. It was good to see where my skill level stands against such a good STU driver. Corey makes it look easy. I can definitely see why he is a Prosolo Champion in STU, and was faster than the STU leader on day two, only after a bad day 1. Gotta love that about autocross. Be fast, but be consistently fast.

The member fun days are awesome. If I had some old tires, I would do 30 laps at least, but I try and save my tires for events where I can race against more people. Well, STU doesn't have alot anymore, but I can race against all of the other classes that are supposed to be faster than STU. I try and beat them, even though it is often unlikely. Of course, the battles with my brother are always good too.
