hey there everybody, im having some problems with my teggy, and i need some feedback, its a ls-v (b18b1 with type r head, gsr cams, and type r pistons)

there is something wrong with my vtec, its not popping like it should be,its as if the solenoid opens at 5500 , then closes at 5800.. could it be that the noid is bad? i already took the noid off after my oil change, split it apart, cleaned both screens with brake cleaner, then reassembled to hope for the better, but still the same problem. can someone help?

How's the oil level? And oil pressure? I know it's stop popping in my old Honda whenever it was really low on oil

not sure on the oil pressure, but as stated just did the oil change so oil level is great...

your oil presser switch can be going bad

check pressure switch with voltmeter.

what should the reading be in voltage?

could be oil pressure sensor, vtec solenoid, ground issue, or oil pump... your oil light would probably be coming on if it was the oil pump though.

checked the ground, disassembled the solenoid, it moves freely, and the oil light is not coming on, neither is the CEL, so could it still be the pressure sensor?

id try the sensor, much cheaper to try than the other things.

Any CELs?
Put a voltmeter or test light to the VTEC solenoid lead (A4 on ECU), run the car into VTEC, when VTEC pops you should get 12v+. If the 12v stays from 5xxx - redline then the problem is oil pressure related or mechanical, if the 12v+ signal goes away then it could be the pressure switch, ecu, vss or a number of other things.

no CEL, and NO OIL LIGHT, so what could it possibly be>?

Did you test it the way I suggested??

Clarification: Pin A4 if you are running an OBD1 ecu. I'll have to check which pin if its an OBD2 a or b.

if its the oil pump it may make kind of a tapping sound when you first start it up and its cold... for maybe a second or two.
