View Full Version : Anyone Here Know Anything About Volvos? S60R? or any DD suggestions...

Alright, I originally bought the Civic because it was cheap as hell, and got good gas mileage. Well I am SICK of it, slow ass car FTL.

I really want something a bit newer preferably auto and 4 door yet somewhat fun. I was looking around online and the S60r seems to fit the bill.

4 door, check
auto, check
300hp, check
turbo, check

Has anyone here ever owned one or know anything about these cars?

Also if you guys have any other ideas for similar cars, something fun but reasonable please let me KNOW!!!

Just got my sister a 99' S70 with about 60,000 about 2 months ago. To me, Volvos are giant boxes to carry your airbags around in, but still a great car.

The one downside I always saw with them was "Service" engine lights that could never be shut off. So I was always weary of the electrical. Well, as of last week, in less then 2 months of ownership, neither rear window or the passanger will function from the drivers switch panel, the a/c compressor refuses to kick on, and its chewed through 3 light bulbs. I know its 10 years old and all, but geez. I'm actuallly gonna get a circut tester on it tomorrow to see whats up, but yeah, theres my experience. Still fun as shit.

That car wont even come close to being fun to drive to work every day, I mean fun on weekends to go out and whup some ass, but not as a DD.

The s60r is a good platform. Great driving car. The really did something special with that car. It is expensive to mod, and expensive to fix.

I almost bought one before the legacy. They do not put down very much power. But, the suspension system is absolute baller...ß

The s60r is a good platform. Great driving car. The really did something special with that car. It is expensive to mod, and expensive to fix.

I was reading up on them a bit last night and holy hell are they expensive to mod!!! Almost a grand for a downpipe?!?! wth. I like it because it really does not draw alot of attention and seems like a comfortable car to DD.

volvo s60r is a great car but once its time to fix, alot of $$$ is going to be involved just for parts alone. Its a great car and it wouldnt draw alot of attention at all but why does you get into a MS3 or something, Alilo bit more and you can have a brand new on with warranty and all. Just my .02, volvo s60r is a nice car tho non the less

buy a manual trans S60R and i'll make it disappear:thumbup: but an s60r is a real good dd. they really dont have any problems with them and also they r pretty quick for a 4 door sedan. i would get one in my opinion.

Are the manual ones really hard to find, because I have only found one manual for sale so far.

could get a 4 door mk5 gti .. automatic with DSG paddle shifters .. my moms got one and its pretty nice

reflash the ECU with some software and it would be a killer DD
