99' Volvo S70 with 2.4L L5 cyl. B5452 Turbo motor.
No air flow comming through vents whatsoever. Checked main fuse block, getting power fine, swapped fuses, no change. Did same thing in acc. fuse panel, same result.
Its a push buttun control system, tested all connections, everythings fine electrically there. Then ran motor.
While running, AC compressor clutch engages and dis-engages just fine. The compressor itself is also getting an adaqute amount of juice. So electrical is ruled out.
I have read up on it and from what I've gathered with E46s' (closest reference I could get), if the high side/low side preasure isn't adaquite, it won't allow flow thru- the pump. At this juncture I'm either thinking a re-charge with dye, or something may be screwy with the thermostat. What do you think? Anyone have something similar?
Sidenote = anyone got a sniffer?
Thanks. Patrick.

You said no air flow coming through vents whatsoever, in both a/c and heat? Blower took a shat?

I have a sniffer but if you are having air flow issues it has nothing to do with the refrigerant.
Does your blower turn on at all? Air flow is dependent on the movement of the blower.
The only way the refrigerant being low could stop air flow is if the pressures drop and freazes the evaporator coil into a solid block of ice, therefore blocking air. But that doesn't sound like what is happening here.
So tell me, when you turn your heat on, do you get air flow in your vents?

no air blowing hot or cold. I was under the impression the system wouldn't kickon if the preasures were out of wack as a form of a failsafe. Not gonna lie, A/C isn't my strong point. Started courses, but never finished.
So to answer, I guess no blower.

yep, blower should work regardless if there is freon. be sure to check circuit breakers as well to the blower

does it sound like the blower motor is coming on?
if not find where it is (usually under passenger side of dash) and give it a good smack and if it turns on the motor is going bad.
if it blows out of the defrost only or something like that its probably the blend door or blend door actuator...
the freon has nothing to do with the blower motor, its only purpose is cool the condensor and and lubricate the compressor.
most likely its the blower motor though..

Motherfucker. Now the master window switch on the drivers door panel won't work at all. Looks like that Independently Volvo place is getting a call first thing tomorrow.

Sounds like some wiring issues. I was a little taken back by the blower motor going out. I've never seen one die, not that they don't.
I'd take the interior apart and check the wiring out. You probably have a bad ground somewhere or some wires are getting old.
In many cars, the rubber boot that holds the wiring harness from the body to the door gets water in it and it slowly eats at the wires. This starts all sorts of issues that are sometimes not even related to door controls.
Electronics work in interesting ways. If you'd like some help, I'd be more than willing to go through some things with you before you shell out some major dough to Volvo.
It'll be a major assistance if you have the factory service manual or at least the wiring diagram of the cabin area. I pretty much rewired my entire car, but for me it was all in a days' hobby as I'm well educated in electrons and electronics, not just simplistic wiring.
Tracing wires can be a bitch though.

Yeah dude, its a Volvo = I've never seen one over 10 years old with exellent wiring.
When I plug the main switch panel back in, I get a split seccond of all the lights shorting out. Gotta love it.

Edit - +10 points to Burny. Went to Independently Volvo today, saw Randy. He had the master panel switch in stock. Guys a master Volvo tech and I damn near lost the Volvo in his lot with all the other white s70s, lolol. Awesome stuff.
And fuck the blower for now. Windows are just as good in my book.
