Honestly it is only annoying at idle...when you are driving its doesn't matter...

Semi Jew
June 2nd, 2009, 09:42 PM
i know, since it's an "idle" air control valve :)

you can race without it, you don't idle that much as long as you shut it off between runs.

STiDriven
June 2nd, 2009, 10:17 PM
Real race cars don't idle anyway.

i would be more worried how rich your car is running. as soon as you get that idle fixed you should really get a tune.

either way you are going to have to fix the idle before the tune.

Rich is usually a good thing...or something i'll never be...

What are my concerns with running too rich...besides the obvosu that its not tuned right..

I was cleaning out the trunk and what did I find!? The battery tie down rods and bar, that was taken off the list!

Air Intake
Intake Mainfold
Wheels
Tires
Stut Bar
Clean up the wires under the hood

carbon build up in the engine, gas in the oil, gas washes down the cylinder walls ending up in lost compression. also it creates build up in the head port causing lost flow. thins the oil and starts burning it.

a little rich is ok but the way yours is and mine was is not good at all.

i would if i were you. thats why i never drove mine. i have too much money into it to go and rush stuff. do it right the first time so you dont have to do it again and waste a ton of money.

Billy

should be ok. just no prolonged use.

hopefully the valve comes and we can drop coolant in it and be done until tune.

... now only .1 off the evo's street tire top time.

Well, not exactly. I did run Ron's car for two laps and ran a 30.7. His car is definitely faster than mine, but I would need to get use to it. Also, he has Kumho XSs on the front and Falken Azenis on the rear, so it was not too easy to drive. Even so, I could've knocked off a few more tenths. On the right tires, I would bet that it could do a high 29. But seriously Dave, that time of yours is impressive.

Semi Jew
June 6th, 2009, 07:17 PM
my old evo's time with the hankooks anyways :) i get a lot of shit for selling it and getting the teg lol.

street tires have come a long way in only two years though. it was tough when it was only hankook rs2s and azenis.

I was happy to run for a few runs. All I really expected...

I'm not leaking coolant anywhere...I left it in the driveway for a few hours and not a drop. Its still full in the radiator...I think the smell is from all the coolant that has been spilled over the motor in the last few weeks...

I need to get a tune, a thermostat and proper hose for the power steering....and those wheels and tires thingy...

Semi Jew
June 8th, 2009, 08:39 AM
you'll have all that by the sep event dont worry.

I didn't think that I was even going to make it this weekend, and wasn't too motivated to drive. But it was probably the best two days of driving that I have put together. I wish I would have stayed away from those 2 cones on my last run. The 70.213 was amazing to see until they mentioned the late call. After my first run, I knew that I had the right line, but I also knew that I could add alot more speed. If some of our best drivers would have been there, I would have needed that 70.2 to stay up there in pax. Darrin would have made sure that I didn't get first. Hopefully I will be down in later in the year.
