3 of my 5 front driver studs spins with the lug nut attached to it, meaning the teeth of the spline on the back is stripped, what can I do? we already tried spot welding the back of the stud and it always breaks off, only thing we thought of is drilling the fucker perhaps??

any ideas? I hate that I was finally getting my bitch on the road and something like this happens :(

I came up with a plan but its gonna suck, unbolt the entire hub assembly and take it off the car then cut the back of the studs off.

what about some sort of electric chisel with a thin tip?...(if there is such a thing, not sure) and chisel it from the back, there is some space back there where you can see it.

Well since you can see the studs from the back at one point try cutting off the head its the only other thing I can think of that has no possibility of damaging the wheel.

I doubt a cutting disc will fit though, is there some sort of electric chisel perhaps?

1 is already drilled open, wasn't hard at all...so a torch would work? What would happen if I put a blow torch directly at the stud, the lug nut would soften/warp and easily take out?

frank
June 3rd, 2009, 11:54 AM
Eric just drill out the stud make it hollow and then break it. Torch + Your Rims = Don't even want to go there.

AWDMadness
June 3rd, 2009, 11:58 AM
kk, the lug nut is already half way taken out, its only like maybe an inch to drill too :p

frank
June 3rd, 2009, 12:00 PM
You don't even have to drill all the way through the stud just far enough so that it is past the lug nut so it will break off.

ISMELLRICE
June 3rd, 2009, 12:29 PM
yeah mine were closed caps too...once you start hammering at it, the cap will come off...we kept going at it with the air chisel but it wouldnt go any further than that...
i had no other choice lol so i told him to do the torch...took 1 quick it and the lug melted and the nut came out...solved the problem lol

good luck though
