does anyone know of a decent local engine builder? its just the miata, nothing fancy. basically it would be a very small overbore, head rebuild, ect. also depending on price i may get the crank and rods balanced. anybody know of someone in town who could help me out?

lamonts can do the machining for you- and Roy @ aftermath can put it together for ya, put it in, and throw it on the dyno. Bring your tuner down and get everything done at one shop more or less.

if its the spec miata, you might want to check if you can over bore it a bit...

its for ITA, you can overbore .02 to get rid of any scoring/scratching in the cylinder walls. the same is legal in "spec"

The jury is still out on Lamonte's current work. He trashed 3 cranks that I know of and my split cylinder walls are still un-explainable.

I don't think I'd have any short-block machine work done in this area as of now. I use Matt's Cylinder Heads for head work though. He's out off Pondella.

my friends dad who runs spec miata sent his motor out to some dude who is "known on the forums" i think with a whole new motor,bore, and whatever else you can do it cost like like 5,600 maybe? i can get the guys name if you want?

that was probably specmiataengines.com. they charge more than i have right now.
