has anyone ever gone to a monster truck show

im watching it on tv right now and never really thought anything of it until now

these trucks have fuckin 1400-1800 horsepower .. WUT???

all the drivers have the most redneck names ive ever heard.. interviewing the drivers is almost pointless

"GRAVEDIGGER WHAT IS YOUR PLAN FOR TONIGHT"

"well im gonna drive my truck over the cars and ya know try not to flip it"

ive love to go to a live show and get hammered and cheer on for no reason

The local shows suck donkey balls. The one down at swamp buggy grounds used-to be a good, all-day show. Now it's 3-4 trucks and a couple hours. The one at the civic center is a joke, as they do it inside; 3 cars for each truck, if they hit it hard enough to get air you'll see them lock the brakes in the air.

It's fun to watch, but you'll have to head up to the one in Orlando for it to be anything like what you watch on TV.

hey Justin this year at the buggy grounds they had Max-D with Meents and Digger with Randy Brown and another 6 trucks. way cooler in person because the TV doesn't give justice to how fast and how much power those thing actually have. Gotta love a nitro burning big block!!!! Kinda the same thing goes for the buggy races U gotta go at least once

I heard on the radio that they were going to try to get some fame back. - Methanol burning by the by; they wouldn't make it on nitro they way they drive them.

Go to the one in Orlando at the Citrus Bowl. Its d shiznit. I watch that shit everyday at 5 when I'm not working. The engineering behind them is crazy and I love the interviews. lol " well its a ford so its built for tuff but my sway bars wernt swaying right and rear steer wasnt steering so i had to give it my best shot and hammer it"

Basically.

And the cost for them is outragous. Chassis with driveline is a little under 2 million, then you factor in agrocultral tires, and complete custom made fiberglass bodies.

The OG "Bigfoot 1" is at the Race Rock Cafe in Orlando. (Was actually go hit that bar up. but was wayyy to hammered to find that place)

Race rock has been closed for a few years now, the truck was auctioned off along with everything else.

Not quite. They cost about 150k new. Still pretty expensive but not that bad considering what it is.

Big Foot is at Old Town or "fun spot" in Orlando. I thought it was just a fake truck until I saw gear oil leaking out of the cases.

And I'm pretty sure they cost more than 150 k. can someone find out an exact number for garve digger or tom meants' truck?

Here's where I got the stats:
http://www.offroaders.com/directory/monster_trucks/About-Monster-Trucks.htm
Here's Gravedigger's stat page:

You have to remember. While the parts used are top of the line there isn't much to a monster truck. Upkeep is pretty huge though sinece they are always breaking and like I said the parts aren't cheap.

The biggest cost is all the tools and r&d each team does.

Just for FYI, the big foot that was at race rock had no driveline in it. The ds were just laying in the upper loops. No drivetrain + no e-brake = us screwing with some peoples day once or twice. Can you imagine coming out from diner and having that thing rolled up against your car?

ya maybe i was just thinking of what it costs them a year in up keep.
