I drove my Z all the way to Milwaukee for the first ever National street tire challenge...

I put down the 5th fastest time out of my 59-driver class, 7th fastest for the 104 driver event, and my BSP pax dragged me down to 9th.

I didn't think I could win in an underprepped BSP 350, but I had hoped to straight-time the class. -Missed that goal by only half a second, but I didn't go home unhappy.

That was the best racing I have ever taken part in. I have been in close battles before, (My brother and I were once seperated by only .003 seconds) but I have never had so many people "bring it" at one event, in one class.

I got sandwiched by two 350Z's. All three of our times fit into a .246-second window. A couple Z06 Corvettes got in on the action and all five of us were seperated by .413 seconds. The biggest gap in the top six straight-times was the .2 second gap between the class winner, and one of the Z06's.

Great racing. I loved the competition.

My best run...

^^Thanks.

My handwork sucked for some reason, and I was a little impatient in a couple tight spots, but I thought I was otherwise "ahead" of the course, well placed, and agressive for the most part. (I even looked ahead a good bit)

ya, a couple spots the tires sounded mad but for the most part it looked pretty solid

i was mad confused as to where you were supposed to be going from that point of view .. i guess its easier to understand when you are actually behind the wheel?

how many times were you able to run the course before being timed like that?

yeah, the cones had me confused too...maybe he ran a bunch of practice runs before the initial timing? or maybe im just retarded

Learning to "speak cone" is one of the harder parts of this sport. I have seen more than a few good drivers get discouraged the first time they try autocrossing because their times are off when compared to the veterans.

And once you get used to the cones and what they mean, you still have to "look ahead" so that you are in the right place at the right time. I still have room for improvement in this area, and I am starting my 5th year at this.

About this course though...

They let us walk through the course in the morning, but we were timed from the very first run.

We got 7 runs. My first run was 62.466 seconds and my last run (the video) was 61.328 seconds.

you actually dont even look at a majority of the cones, you look for the key ones and set up accordingly
