Ok, i'm going to upgrade my subs from the 2 10's i've currently got to 2 12's and give my current setup to the wife.
I decided on 12's because I used to run 12's in the audi and it hit pretty well and still have the box.
What do I need to look at in terms of specs for the subs themselves. What's a good watt range for RMS? Is there a certain frequency response range I should look for?
What's the difference between 2 channel and 4 channel. How many watts RMS should I look for in a decent amp? How does the ohm number(2 or 4) effect things?
I basically just need a quick once over so I know what i'm looking at with all these specifications so I can make sure I get what I want. And i'm not looking to shake my rear view off, but want more than these two inexpensive 10's can do.
Thanks! :rock

Don't have a budget yet, and not brand loyal but don't want like walmart subs or anything. I really don't have a clue how much i'm going to need to spend for a decent setup, I don't want to spend a grand+ though.

I personally have kicker l5's with a jl audio 1000 watt amp they are 10" and hit really hard - my 2 cents you get what you pay for in car audio if you go cheap the subs will blow and your amp will fry sooner or later

I am running a 10" Kicker L5 with a JL Audio 500/1. It hits hard.

The only thing is it doesn't hit as hard in the GTO as it did in the 4runner. Mainly because the GTO trunk has little to no airspace, and I was running an aftermarket headunit in the 4runner.
Either way it still sounds amazing. :)

the first question is how much room do you want to use or if you have a box you like how much airspace is in it?
i love l5's too but they need a lot of airspace or a lot of wattage to sound good

Custom mounting bracket for the amp:

Custom face plates cover the entire box and amp mount:

Custom box, face plates/amp mount not put on yet since I only got the install done at like 8:30 at night then went straight to the meet. Once I get everything on it will sit night and tight against the back seats leaving me alot of trunk space still.
