Oh and you want to get all butt hurt over my comment about stickers? I was just asking if it was a drifting thing, never seen a car with that many stickers on the front windshield.
But I'll play along with ya....
Stickers on the windshield is a gay ricer thing, and illegal not to mention.
4600lbs Automatic truck putting lengths on your little ricer is a man thing.
Anytime you wanna line em up, lets go. Got video camera in hand, and will promise not to laugh at you too hard thru my rear view mirror as this heavy ass pickup truck woops the shit out of your rice fed micro machine....

You've never driven a high horsepower automatic vehicle thru the traps which is obvious by your statement, because there is a lot more to it then just slamming down the pedal... If you had, you would know that... Big difference from a V8 auto, to your tiny 4 banger motors that you can floor, and you just feel it stick to the ground and slowly accelerate.
Hmmm most of the fastest racers are automatic? I wonder why that is?
Also these trucks smoke Evo's around twisty tracks, got a few videos to prove it. Oh and thats real racing, not some stupid, hey here we go again, lets try sliding around this corner.... How about actually trying to keep control of your vehicle so you can make it around the track even faster. Oh wait, you would actually need some Horsepower to be fast around a track, which isnt required to just slide around a track......
I like this game........your truck runs what??? cause i'm sure my car runs 11's........in the 1/8th lol. drift cars make sucky drag cars. OH and by the way my drift car Tow's stuff and my subaru off roads. Isn't that two things trucks are "supposed" to do.

Don't worry what my truck runs, its faster than anything you've ever owned oh and I have all my body panels on it still.....
Truck can tow a ton, no problem what so ever, so not sure what your talking about...
Offroading, actually there are a few videos of lightings off roading. But thats what I have the Jeep for anyways....
Ever heard of a Cyclone, Chevy 454SS, Chevy SS P/U, Jeep SRt8, Typhoon, SRT10 truck, and Lightnings, there all trucks built for a special purpose from the factory. To go fast.
I have yet to see any manufacturers make a vehicle that is solely designed to drift. I wonder why that is? Maybe because its gay as fuck.....
Your car cant hold its own at the track, it cant hold its own at a twisty track, and it gets annihilated at street racing, so lets invent something it can do... hit a corner and slide.....
Wait so your car is in California yet your on a Florida forum? I'm confused.....
Man someone got there feelings all hurt by me calling out there B.S. line of hitting corners at 140+mph, and then asking a simple question about stickers on a windshield...
Sensitive are we?

I agree with Kyle on the point that there are high HP road race cars too. Seems like everyone always equates high HP to drag cars when almost all the time attack and pro road race cars are 500+ whp. Look at the Roger Clark Racing Team Impreza. It has ~700 whp and runs 9.84 @ 143 and is a road race car that dominates all.
Now lets ask the driver of that car what is more difficult... (same car, same driver, same setup, different wheels and tires)
This:

not saying rednecks invented it, just saying it was around long before any import even dreamed of having enough power to slide a tire. - The "class/sport" was not, but controlled sliding has been around since someone figured out spinning a Model T in the rain.

The 150mph on pavement sideways was not on purpose - 2 full donuts + 90* before stopping less than 1' off the retaining wall. I've been over 100mph sideways in the dirt on purpose, even done so in an LT1 caprice station wagon with the simulated wood grain down the sides. - There have been witness as well as passengers' to that.
As for power, my go-kart would spin the tires and slide around corners with a 5hp briggs&stratton. Ever seen the video of the middle-eastern dude doing donuts/figure 8s on his bicycle? Tire compound and a stiff suspension have more to do with sliding than power. Let's see you break them loose at 100mph w/o dumping the clutch, then we'll talk about power.
and yes, I was a live/watching during the original Dukes of Hazard. I'm not a 3rdgen guy because I view them as "cool old cars".

Also I know drag racers are going to get butt hurt by this statement, but I find drag racing one of the easiest forms of racing there is, all you literally have to do is go in a straight line, yea maybe you might get a little hairy sometimes, but overall your not having to do anything to difficult other then literally in your case pushing the gas. I have autocrossed, and kinda drifted once(wasn't very good), done quite a bit of driving in the mountains of cali shit you couldn't even dream of back in Florida, and I find it all a lot more difficult then drag racing. But what do I know, sorry if im alittle here and there on things or alittle vague, im tired as shit and cant think that great right now. Good night.

if you take a drifter and put him into a drag car, I think he would do much better then a drag car racer who is asked to drift
street course racing (doing it well and being consistent, getting the most out of each corner) is probably just as difficult.
I'm not bashing on drag racing, and its no joke going 200+ mph in a quarter mile, but going straight even though it gets scary at times, has fewer variables then drifting or racing.
simple mathematics. fewer variables equals fewer mistakes and logically seems a bit simpler

these two comments are awesome.....First you do need horsepower to slide a car. you think spinning tires at 80+mph works in low power cars?

Actually I'll agree with you 100% on that statement.... When your driving a 200,300, or even 400HP car.... Yea its as simple as it comes....
Once you get in the 700HP+ range, its a whole different world, and there are a lot of factors you have to deal with....
But as far as most of the weekend warrior racers that go out. Yea Drag Racing doesn't get any easier...... They can barely spin there tires... and are doing 8's, 9's and 10's in the 1/8th.....

I never said anything about where anybody lived/lives. I was born in Illinois and I've been to 49 states(no want to go to Alaska) + Canada. As noted by Shaggy, you obviously have no idea what 1000+ hp is like on the track, none-the-less 2000+ hp, I would venture to guess you've likely never been down the track on a big slick at any power level. These cars don't even want to attempt to go straight. When you stage the car, it wants to go anywhere except down that track. - I have dirt track raced; when I was younger I ran quarter midgets, as I got older I ran sprints. You only think you know what handling is until you're sliding around a corner at 100+mph in an open wheel car with one guy 6" off one side and another guy 6" off your other side.
I don't get "butt hurt" about the drag racing vs other motorsports debate, I just laugh at the fact that those thinking it's easy have no experience with it. Driving your VW/Honda/ect down the dragstrip is not even remotely similiar to driving a real race car. - Driving any motorsport has a degree of difficulty, the demands vary greatly pending the level of racing within any of types.
but it didn't make you gay.....you did that on your own.

Let's just go settle this and all watch an episode of pinks and see these 8-9 second car drivers pump there fists and look back half track.
j/k :cool
8-9 second passes are for solid street cars. Get in the 7's in a 3000lb, no engine set-back, stock front suspension, 10.5 car and tell me how boring it is. From a dead stop/dead idle to 60' in 1.16 seconds at a tick over 80mph; I';ve never found a rush like it.
I agree with you though. I have nothing against corner racers, it's just not my thing. I had a blast doing it back in the day, but I just don't enjoy it like I do drag racing.
Now do me a favor and never associate "pinks" with drag racing ever again. That is fighting words. :shift - lol

Wow. Sadly every forum I join has this type of thread.
I've run 9's before...and it was a fucking blast. Not as simple as pushing down the pedal and going...due to this thing we ricers know nothing about...torque...
meanwhile, drifting, which is what i do now...i feel is alot more of a rush then dragging. Someone above me i believe wrote "I've never found a rush like it" in regards to drag racing. Isn't that what all of this is about? I like to think of myself as an all around car guy, I've gone offroading with jeeps and lifted rams big @$$ swampers, I've autocrossed civics, red line time attacked spec miatas, and street class evos, and i've drifted sc300s, supras, and 240sxs.
Every type of motorsport, or "hobby" has its adrenaline rush, its all a matter of the niche you chose. I hate these fucking threads about drifters can't drag and draggers cant drift. Just say, hey nice fucking car, and move tha fuck on. When your with your niche buddies...or ur "crew" or "group" then talk smack if needed, don't start shit up for absolutely no reason. No blame game here...lets just get this thread back to its original topic...this bad as 240 with a silvia hood and no other type of front end.

It wouldn't be an internet forum if there wasn't drama and shit talking. Sometimes it definitely go too far and people do get "butt hurt". - I pretty much never do, I see no point in letting this kind of stuff ruffle me. It's funny to watch someone trying to tell you something that they've never done, when you have.

Really? I thought thats what the E-Brake was for? So you could spin the tires and initiate the kick out.
E-brakes stop wheels from spinning not start them to spin so i don't understand your logic.
just to set the record straight. here we go
1. Yes i was wrong for snapping at him questioning the stickers. for some reason the first time i read it i took it the wrong way.
2. Nobody had done 100mph sideways in a caprice wagon in the dirt. Video or it never happened
3. Take a car thats just as fast as my car in the 1/4 mile and then drift it which one will be more awesome???? Yeah sorry but drag racing a 13 second car vs drifting a car at 100 mph. When i was talking shit about drag racing it was directed at cars that are trapping in a similar speed as i'm drifting.
4. Nobody can drift a 5hp briggs and straton go kart. Unless you are following the rules of every internet ignorant that thinks everytime a car countersteers its a drift. You can trail brake a kart like that, you can do donuts probably too. you can pitch one sideways......yes. but are you really drifting. Probably not. most videos you see of Karts being drifted have street bike engines.

1) I agree with him on stickers on the windshield. Shits not legal or safe below the OE a/s line.
2) there are several witnesses as well as passenger's. Spring break, junior year(99ish), where the Salt Flats used-to be on the left before the Sanibel causeway. If there was video of that week most of us would still be in jail. 90+ mph everywhere, full scale "drifts" around long sweeping treelines and whatever else was out there. We also skipped through some mud holes that lifted 4wd trucks were stuck in. :ugh2: we were not really sober.....
3) understandable, but you're now talking taking your car that has been modified to use for drifting vs a bone stock car being drag raced.
4), hmm, might have to pick up a new go-kart and video accordingly; anyone have or have access to a live axle go-kart, prefferably with the variable belt drive? My liquor cabinet is pretty stocked, let's get this shit done.

It's all good, thats the problem with Text, you cant sense emotion or intent with just text.... The world so needs a sarcasm font as well... :rock
I didnt know about the ebrake, thats why I asked. the only time I have ever drifted, it sure as hell wasn't on purpose, caught me by total surprise.

Seeing a Lightning drifting is hilarious.
+1 to rally being the most difficult. I put my first STi into a tree trying to do some tarmac rally on a narrow road.

I missed it, and I love these "disagreements" as well. My .02 cents worth, HP is impressive, but sometimes it's a burden. Can't be arsed to find it, but I've seen Lotus Elise's out classed on the Dragon's Tail (NC and Tn Border) by Miata's and even Maxima's. Not due to drivers skill, but too much power under light throttle for turns. That's why I agree with the Rally is hardest, to take a powerful car (w/e make or model) and attack a turn with any sort of finesse... +1
*Edit* Mixed up the Dragons... it's Tail of the Dragon... Dragon's Tail is a rapid on the Upper Nolichucky river.
