Hey cats,

I have a '06 GTO 6.0 that is bone stock. Just wondering if any of you could give me some ideas on what to do to the GTO to make it perform better and be faster.

thanks,

Ryan~

Take the motor out and give it to Burny, it'll perform better.

Well, what's your budget? Are you looking to go all out, or just some bolt on's to make it a little quicker?

+1, what are your goals?

Start with an intake and headers to get the car breathing better, then you could go with a cam, supercharger, nitrous. If you go with a turbo you won't need headers or the intake.

suspension work, intake, headers, cam, spray :rock

but really you need to ask how much you want to spend.

intake - 100-400

cat-back - 500-900

headers - 400-1000

cam with supporting mod - 550 - 800

spray - 500 - 1500

but you need to think where you want to improve your car

Good point on the suspension. Check and see if you have strut rub. There is no such thing as a GTO with a non faulty suspension from the factory lol. You should replace the radius rod bushings and strut mounts right away.

Join on ls1gto.com and you will learn a whole lot about your car.

lol, qq whats your nitrous kit made up of

Metallicarokerx
March 26th, 2010, 10:34 PM
It is an NX kit with a WOT switch and a MSD window switch. I put TR6 plugs in gapped to 35, and that is about it. Oh and it is a nozzle kit not a plate.

tune, wideband? stock tune?

Metallicarokerx
March 26th, 2010, 11:04 PM
No wideband, I'm tuning it by the plugs, but I don't have the pills to lean it out right now and I'm still pig rich. I have HPtuners though so tuning is easy.

Edit- just keep in mind low timing is good. You can go lean if your timing is low, but if it is too high you will melt shit.

Here is a very good read that explains it.

Don't listen to Randy lol..

LSx's don't like timing lol.

For tuning:

This book used to be $70 bucks ... but it well worth the $40 pricetag now.

I can't tell if you are being sarcastic? Keep in mind I am talking about timing with nitrous only, not NA or FI.

i just don't get why i wouldn't spend the 350bucks and have the car tuned, what would happen if your motor blew because of 350bucks. maybe its me but i always play safe. Except with fat chick then its rough dog style

I'm not saying to not tune the car at all. I'm saying to fine tune with nitrous you have to read the plugs.

I am being dead serious. They don't need a lot of timing, 16-17 degrees on most head/cam/spray applications is plenty for both N/A and the spray.

16-17* is damn low, I'd worry about cooking a set of exahust valves at some point.

I do need a window switch, but with the mustangs OAKWOOD computer software program and ( fly by wire ) every-time i shift the throttle blades close. So even if i do misfit i won't be like boom. Because i have miss shifted twice at church street and i just never hit the gas after that for like 30sec i just cruise. but i will get a a window switch one day i promise

What are you running now? ~20-21* 16-17 is low for most applications, but it's not unheard of for a big shot car (200-250) ... maybe a little race fuel. Most N/A cars are in the 23-27* depending on the cam. Too many variables.

I agree though.

Decide how much you wanna spend and then double it because usually it never goes how you plan, and you always always always want more power trust me.
It all comes down to what you want/ your goal. Ask for rides in other gto's on the board theres like 10 on here now all different as far as mods/power. Good luck.

ohh and there is no feeling like BOOOOOOOOOOOOST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
