The other day I ran the Rpm's up and after 5k RPM the car started back firing and sputtering (under WOT). I've never had something like this happen so I'm kind of at a loss. I'm pretty sure it's something electrical. It's been a long while since I've opened her up so I'm not sure how long this has been going on for. The car seems to run fine up till 5k RPM. Any ideas? It's a 1998 Mustang GT. I checked the tune and everything was as it should be.
Thanks,
Jeremy

Replace your plugs it's most likely the problem.

Go plugs and fuel filter first just because if there's any doubt then they need to be replaced anyway. - If it still gives you trouble time to check the coils and the alternator.

Thanks, I'll check it all out this weekend. By the way, I dropped the tranny and replaced the throwout bearing and that fixed my clutch problems. That bitch was basically split in half.

If you need any help let me know...I've dropped the tranny in mine so many times I can have it on the ground in a little over an hour with help haha. $20 part and about a bajillion dollars in labor if you have it done at a shop.

do you have an adjustable fpr ? I had a similar issue(wot would shift and back fire) and found the nut was not as tight at I thought.. long story shot re-adjusted double checked with out a 6 pack in me and all was good.

Not adjustable that I know of; he's got a 2v 4.sick built to make 5.0's cry. lol
Jeremy, an hour to get it out? ppffftt, still slacking. Robert has R&R'd his inside of an hour. - Just proves he has way too much practice.....lol.

Come on now, I know I can't compete with you guys. Can Robert get his Bell housing off without loosening the right header? I tried and couldn't so I just replaced the throwout bearing with it hanging there. But if I have to replace the clutch I'm SOL.
I'm 90% sure I don't have an adjustable FPR. I haven't ever really looked at ti to be honest. Never needed to. I'll check it out.

Pull your plugs and make sure there's no signs on detonation. Could also be pre-ignition if you're having a cooling issue somewhere.

If he still had the aluminum bell, then yes w/ the kooks. The steel can on the other hand does not come off well.
I doubt it's detonation on his car. The tune is not that on edge, none-the-less his stock 120k mile cast pistons would be windowing the block if it was detonating that badly at 5k.
