i have been keeping my rpm's low to save on some gas and today in my SRT-4 i went up 4rpm and my car was moving like normal then started to slow down un till i switch gears. well it does not real slow down it just stops accelerating, and i know its not suppose to do that. does any one have any ideas what it can bee and my car used to not do this it just started.

From how little I can understand of that, it seems like the clutch is slipping...

Can you hear the engine RPM's still rising, when the car stops accelerating?

oh, plus it's a Dodge so it has to be something wrong with the transmission ^_^

its not the clutch. lets say im going 30 in second gear running 4 thousand rpm's. then i try accelerating up to 40 running 5 thousand rpm's. my car will start to accelerate but once it hits around 5thousand; the car stops accelerating until i switch gears and i know there is still room before i reve the car all the way out. i was driving this morning and i think i heard a little back fire. is it possible that it could be my spark plugs going bad and not keeping up with the fuel? or possible its my transmission going out? when i got the car it used to rev all the way.

How are you so sure that it is not the clutch? Sure sounds like a burnt clutch to me.
