Svt Having Cruise Control Problems

Just happened today...im borrowing my gf's car while mine gets painted...i am on a 75 mile trip to school and halfways i notice the cruise cuts off...
i thought i had maybe pressed the gas or brake by accident so i turned it on again but it wouldnt turn on at all...i stopped to fuel up and tried it again, it worked but only for about 10 miles and cut off again...its not my car its my girls but id like to fix it asap if possible...
anyone have a clue of what it could be?

huge recall on it, i was going to get the lightning fixed it also does the same thing, and it hits hard when i want it to go 1 mpg faster
