So the autox threads have been dead for over a week. Maybe we'll actually get good weather for this next event. Although I like rain, I really want to try out the rcomps.
Unfortunately I have an ophtho symposium Sunday-Wed. Gonna atleast try to make it out for Sat and drive right back.
Oh yeah, relocated the battery to the trunk finally. 35lbs off the front and lots of room upfront now. Maybe even air-water intercooler. No money to play with right now though.
So, who's comming out and what's new?

we have a novice school on saturday morning to show the ropes to the newb. i am an instructor, we will take good care of you. i do strongly recommend the school on saturday. if you can only come one day, saturday is the day you want to come.
in the afternoon after the school, you will run the practice course. and you can come on sunday to the event and drive too. really there is no limitation for noobs. i do strongly recommend the school on saturday.
P.S. I have some really good in car video from PBIR this past weekend. i will be making a thread by the end of the week with some video.

We just built a new novice school course last weekend and I think it's much better than the old one.
Side A is unchanged but side B has an optional "dual" traction circle, football, and slalom(s).
I took some in-car video I can post later.
It will be later tonight before I can post it though. (I have to exercise then go to Scouts with my son, first)

I got one complete "at-speed" look, and a couple "broken" runs with Dave stopping me to explain how the options work.
You will pick it up in < 3 runs, I promise.

The 2 years is good, but Dave makes the call on it. I'm not sure what other considerations go into it. If you are comfortable driving cars you "just met", that's probably a plus too.
My guess is that Dave will put you "on his radar" after you bring it up to him. (Unless you have had his attention for a while already.)
BTW Dave said you can get your car class straight at next registration. Make sure you double check the sheet after the morning meeting.

Oh yeah, I liked the part about killing the "new cones" in the mailing list. I'm not in the lead anymore though. And I won't get any this event. Sadness. If I don't hit a cone in the slalom I think I'm being too lazy/cautious.

im gonna try running the car with no front sway bar this event and the shocks set up differently.
i was at full extension (full stiff rear full soft front) at PBIR and felt I could still use mid corner grip. so expect to see some spins!

I wanna see if the battery relocation can actually be felt. We also didn't get a chance to really run the hoosiers last time. It's gonna be a little hot this weekend too.
What size bar are you currently running on the front? Did you raise the spring rate when you took the bar off, or just trying w/o bar for some more mechanical grip?

I have a matching set of rubber. Maybe now ill be in the 32's with the switch.
I knew I couldnt stay away from better tires for long lol.
The first corner is a fun one to slide Dave, dont brake, just lift and get right back on it. :)

his kw's will support the car with no front sway bar. he had is shocks all the way soft in the front and all the way stiff in the back. he has plenty of adjustability to run no front sway.
unlike my setup i had to drop the rear spring rate to stop the tail from slinging out on me. i wish i had $1600 for KW variant 3's.

Baller KWv3s!
Well I think we're gonna make it to tomorrow, all the work for the meeting is done. Now just gotta get up @6:30 and drive 2.5 hrs. I just hope we get some decent time tomorrow and it doesn't get closed at 2:30 or 3 pm. I want to play with the dampners too.

the KWs are legit, compared to the V3s for EVOs and STIs the Integra ones are a bargain.
in some of the pics at PBIR i was lifting half of the outside front tire on the back sweeper, which im sure was costing some speed. removing the front bar is an easy mod to try, and if it works, it's free!
i have to give it a brake tap into the first turn on the saturday course or else it will push out quite a bit. didn't use to, probably because I'm at the end of 2nd there now :)

Never broke there in the H22 four door, it didnt have a front sway.
I think he can do it. :)
Billy
April 30th, 2010, 05:50 PM
well his problem in the past is he had to brake to get the car to rotate. now it should do better to lift and rotate with no front sway. but he will probably not like it that loose and just adjust the rotation out of it.

Looks great Mike.
Here is my last run, screwed up the last slalom, but somehow I think it may have contributed to the fast time. (67.3 iirc) The car has alot left in it, Laslo in ST had over a second on me.

Man, the only race we miss is the freakin fast one. I hope they put something like this together next month.
Was probably good that we didn't race, b/c found a pinhole leak in the turbo coolant line...that lost a pint sometime in the last month. Never showed anything above smack dab in the middle of the temp gauge, but it is a factory guage.
Nice work on those run videos, looks great.

Anyone lose it at the finish?

Finally watched the video. I really can see and hear the difference in your driving. Your line and positioning was better than mine on that course, and you are turning considerably earlier. Everything just looks easier now that you aren't fighting to get back on line.
You need a competitive car and tires!!!!
