yeah i know it sounds gay but having to drive my car lately has become a pain in nasty traffic, i feel as though my clutch cable is going to snap again(has happened 3 times)...i woul hate to get stuck out in ft myers in the middle of rush hour traffic because something is wrong with my clutch...
i replaced it with a ram hdx from jegs about 6 months ago has bout 12k miles on it and every time i race it by the 2nd or 3rd run its stiff as shit! like knee breaking stiff...
i already have a brand new valeo clutch disk which is supposed to be as close to oem as they come...its an mmr clutch disk,
i know i need a new throw out bearing also but could this be my only problem? what else do i need to replace to have a softer clutch pedal feel? my pressure plate? if anyone could help out it would be great..
also my car is an 02 w/tr3650 not t45 from the 01 1/2s...
i think mine is 11" not 10.5s like the others

They sucks ass. I'm on my second one and it sucks...I don't know if it's just me or what but I've had nothing but trouble with them.

I'm dealing with the same problem...Do you have an adjustable clutch cable? Mine is shot, it's the next think I'm replacing. I believe this is my 3rd one...already snapped two. I ordered the steeda cable, it's supposed to be awesome. Do you have any symptoms other then a stiff clutch? Does it consistently grab in the same place? Any chattering noise when the peddle is all the way out on idle?

if you want it to hold on the bottle and feel like a stock clutch then Mcleod twin disk,Its in no way cheap though.mine was great but its overkill for you,i would just get a spec 1 and be done

my spec 3 plus is awesome and it does the job for me for the power that my car is making. Do you hane a quadrant and a firewall adjuster?

i have the upr quadrant and the upr firewall adjuster...i regret ditching my oem i was a noob and didnt think i would have problems like this if i replaced it with ram...
it grabs good but its just too stiff for dd'ing...also when my foot is lightly on the pedal i hear chirps like whistle, when i let it go nothing

Zoom Clutches are very good, and hold alot of power and still are great for a DD car

haha yea, I remember your mustang well even though I never saw it in person. That was the plan however the oem cable is on there now. So I figured I would buy the steeda. My friend just bought the steeda and it made a world of difference. I'm hoping the same happens for me.

RICE, the chattering could very well be the throwout bearing going bad. They are only 20 bucks. Might as well replace it atleast for the peace of mind.

Furd Motorsports king cobra or Clutchmasters; if you get much nastier with power, get a custom set-up from Walt @ Pro Motion. Fuck all other single discs.......

It's just you.

This one held 400hp perfectly and was MUCH LIGHTER pedal pressure than stock. The Centerforce PP is lighter because of the counterweight setup.

The one I put in my old '92 notch held 600hp with decent pedal pressure and was quite smooth on the launch. It was a mix of Centerforce part #s spec-ed out by Will Baty, so I honestly couldn't tell you what it was, but it worked!

Speaking from experience here. Not internet speculation.

But that's just my $.02

His 320rwhp NA4.6 has killed several CF's with fairly low mileage out of them, in fact, we got more mileage and harder launches out of the FMS king cobra in Robert's car when he was NA.

The quadrant and adjuster play a big roll though. Switching from Steeda to Pro Motions stuff seemed to be one of the big helpers in getting Robert's clutch to co-operate with 600rwhp.

- Anyone who knows the car knows we played the clutch rodeo for quite a while trying to get that thing to work. 600rwhp with a 3300+lb curb weight does not co-operate well with radial tires and a clutch. Out of the box with Pro Motion's stuff first four hits it went 1.54, 1.54, 1.52, and 1.54 60fts on 26" m/t dr's. - Car went 11.3 coasting from before the 100' mark(4th gear wasn't playing).

...while I'm at it I'm gonna call everyone in this thread out on being a pussy. lol - I daily drove my convertible in Orlando traffic with the Hays 5200# roller-assist borg&beck set-up and mechanical "z-bar" clutch linkage.

man up bitches!

My GTA was my only wheels through most of my college years. DD in Orlando area traffic. - My ex had always wanted to learn to drive manual, but she couldn't push the pedal in that car with both feet. lol

I know how the CF clutches work...I'm not some kid who just knows what the CF website says. The first CF clutch I went through warped the disk, CF replaced it for free. The entire time I've had both clutches the peddle has been unnaturally stiff. I'm hoping its just the cable and the clutch is fine. I know I don't have enough power to be burning it up.

Shagwell - If I replace the cable and it's still a pain in the ass should I throw out steeda firewall adjuster and get the Pro-Motions?

I have my steeda adjuster I took out still,it was like driving a different car when I did.went to stock with a steeda double hook quadrant and Roberts old factory clutch cable and it was a much nicer driving car

Hmm I think I still have the stock equipment, before I swap out the stock cable I'll give that a shot if I find the parts.

The clutch is definitely not the problem. Hope you get it all sorted out. :)
