There's not a best one there's pros and cons to both. You set up a centri blower car right and there's not much on the street that will beat you, same goes for the kb

I personally would look at the on3performance turbo kit.it's cheaper than both and very easy to make power

*edit

looks like I got beat to it

vortech is a bolt on kit with better internal bearings than procharger.mine was fine at anything from 4lbs to 15lbs,never leaked any oil like whats common with procharger

It's also cheaper.it was a good setup and worked well

Go to the blower bistro on svtperformance and look at the on3 kits people have bought.everyones very happy and it's a quality kit for 2k

you can put together a supercharger setup really cheap if you piece it together.to be fair prochargers makes good power and have a steeper gear in them to make boost faster(400ish rpms).procharger comes with a air to air but makes the kit way overpriced when you can do a vortech and a diy air to air intercooler for a fraction of the cost.procharger also come with a blow thru setup unlike the vortech draw-thru which is nice.alot of people like to beable to vent their bypass/blowoff to the air instead of recircing it back into the intake like on a vortech setup.this way you have alot less clutter

both kits are good just depends what you want

kb kits for the gt are mehh in my opinion.very expensive and you dont get alot of return without having a built motor.not only that but kbs seem to have quite a few problems with the snout seals and the rotors eating themselves.they burn oil and kb has terrible customer service.if whipple had a kit for the 2v motor i would say go for that but alas they dont

for less money you can make easier and safer power with the turbo setup.their stock car put down 400 and did a 12.1 on a set of 17" nitto 555r's.for the money you really cant beat it

SLOMOGT
May 11th, 2010, 06:01 PM
yea i was looking at that turbo setup ! im really thinking about the turbo but also looking at the vortech... and the price for both kits arent that bad! who did your tunning ? aftermath ?

my car was done at coastal dyno in tampa, while sam did good work i wouldnt recommend him again.he takes a longgggggg time to do anything and from what ive seen lately hes gotten sketchy.

roy i think has brian come in and tune who has done a bunch of local cars and a bunch of cars on other forums and all are happy.he does great work

Look into what the supporting mods you would need considering your auto and your car is pretty much stock. I wonder how much power those 2v's can hold? Research

with the setup you had how did your car run ? i heard you lost to briton....

ooo i know they can hold power but im not going to build a race car ! i know that im going to run some power to mine enough to blow by some shit around here !:devillook

You will make power without a doubt. You just want to make that power safely and not have your shit go boom...

May 11th, 2010, 09:31 PM
Supercharged, you can safely make around 400 rwhp. You can get a little more agressive with it and push it to 450, but you had better make sure the tune is SPOT ON. One hint of detonation at that power level and its OVER!

BTW, I have a low milage 4.6 2v out of an 01 GT for $600:rofl1:

As for blower selection, you cant go wrong with an Strim. But if you plan on doing a build and cranking up the boost, Id go with a procharger D1sc or vortech T-trim. Dont waste your time on a p1sc.

Centri, about 8 psi is what a good majority of 2v 4.6 mustang owners run. The Kenne Bell also makes a bunch of heat.

with the setup you had how did your car run ? i heard you lost to briton....

Yeah briton beat me his shit rolls out.my car was on 4lbs so 388hp against a 400whp 2800lb car and he got me by about a car and a half. I expected to lose he's beat me every time we've ever raced.I raced steves red jetta(insanemk3) the same night before briton and he beats briton by a good amount, and he only pulled me by a car with him on 15ish lbs any more and he would have killed us both.me being non intercooled at the time the heatsoak killed me.

We never raced with me on more boost

if you buy a intercooled kit and make 400whp through that auto you'll be faster than I was at that point.my car ran like ass alot of the time due to my fuckups

If your going to go centri then I suggest procharger. I think there newer internal oiling systems are really nice now.

If you want to go twin screw them I recommend the whipple. Its what I had on my cobra and have installed both KB and whipples. The whipple is hands a much more quality piece.

Then theres a turbo I would recommend the hellion kit especually if your going to build the auto for it.

If you have any more further questions regarding anything specific questions about any of them please just ask lol.

Vortech: Tried and true. On our S351 Saleen at 8 lbs (stock boost level, no pulley change) it runs 504rwhp/508rwtq. Downside is, I think the mod motor kits are kinda ugly looking (unless you fork over more cash for the polished kit), and they are a dime-a-dozen.

Paxton: Bigger back in the day, but they are all self contained as far as oiling goes now. Pretty nice kits, and usually include some nicer parts than Vortech (for the 5.0 kit they originated metal intake elbows, Vortech used plastic. But that's a story for another day).

Procharger: You're going to spend some more, but you're going to be get a FMIC, and run stock around 9lbs (Vortech usually starts around 6). Self contained oiling systems, and the ability to upgrade pretty easily.

If you want turbo, check out either John Urist over at Hellion Power Systems (best turbo kits made, in my humble opinion), B&G Turbo Kits, and maybe Ponydown.net (don't know if they make mod motor kits or not). Hellion is usually an all inclusive thing, B&G usually includes the essentials and lets you source things like MAF's, fuel, etc. Honestly, for the best power, take a REAL hard look at Hellion. Go read some of their letters and stories on customer cars. They took a bone stock 5.0 (down to the air silencer), slush-crap-box AOD from barely over 200 rwhp to something like 350+ on low boost. I don't remember the exact numbers, but it's just plain silly. Not to mention their parts are quality, and plain friggin' beautiful!

I would look into the vortec units- they should give you room to grow in the future if you want to and if you would ever take it off they still sell for a decent price.
