Lamont will not be doing anything for us any more. Far too many issues.
For my comon rebuild type stuff I've been using Jimmy @ Hoods, for race stuff I'd reccomend Mike Thompson of Thompson Machine down in Naples.

Lamont has served me well since about 1996. I have had one issue with Lamont's Machine Shop in that time - it was the rear cam bearing in a small block that was not installed in the correct position.
Joe's Performance is very good. He is quite busy so I always give him a time frame on the work he does for me.
Hope this helps.

Lamont did a lot of work for us for many years. Then he fucked up two cranks for us, two for close firends, and the block I ended up hurting on Roy's dyno. He wouldn't stand behind any of it even though two of the cranks were well under the low limit. - I didn't take to kindly to him having trashed an $1000 crank, especially him saying "well, you polished it and that's why it's hurt"....really? I hand polished a perfect .006 off evenly across every throw? Damb, guess I wasted my money having him cut it .010, should have just spent twice as long polishing it.......
Jimmy has done four sbc's and an sbf for us in the past 4-5 weeks, all have been flawless and less $ than Lamont's. We also had him do bore work for the 477 blower combo, and cut the 2nd crank key-way, all of which also came out flawless.

Not having a machine shop locally that I would trust with a modular has held me up on my Teksid build.
I'll probably be picking up another Teksid and sending it down to SFL or possibly Livernois.

I'd probably check with Kris Starnes at Champion and see if he's still using Al Pappito(sp?) or if not who he is using. Al did Robert's block work and did a good job. - Definitely wouldn't have Al/his shop do any assembly work anymore though.

I was going to contact Al and se if he did in house machining or if he sent it out. Thats whey i didn't put a specific name down, just SFL. I plan on doing the build myself, so as long as the machinework is top notch, I'll be happy.
Has Al or Boss330 Racing had some neg feedback lately?

Get the full story about Al from Robert or from Kris; seems a lot of general hit or miss assembly and set-up procedures. - I will say Kris found a signifigant reason as to why Robert's wouldn't push over 330rwhp NA, even after a slew of changes that moved the powerband from 6k peak to 7k peak.
I'd check with Robert and have him get in touch with Kris. That man knows his shit with modulars.
