Quick summary... I pulled the motor to turbo the car and swap the clutch, put it back together and it idled at 4300rpms. Figure out it's a leak on the intake manifold, take it off again, fix it, put it back. Car runs fine for 20 min or so, then starts spraying gas everywhere. Take the intake manifold back off, new seals on the injectors, put it back in.

I go to crank it up and it's cranking over about to start when this happens:

I want to say it's a ground or something, but it was cranking over fine until it just stopped. I pulled the power off the starter and it still does the same thing, so I'm pretty sure that's not the problem. Checked all the fuses in the engine bay and they're good. I'm completely lost at this point. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

It's not like a changed a fuckin sparkplug or something. I'll set the bitch on fire before I start "retracing" pulling the motor out.

Nevermind it worked the 3rd time. I vote for a bad ground.

did i say pull the motor? by re tracing your steps i mean check and double check all your connections and shit ..ground wires electrical connections hoses and shit

Yeah, that's kinda what I'm wondering, ugh.

starter relay?

It's still fuckin up with the starter not even connected. It's doing some even weirder shit now, the radio lit up for a few seconds, then shut off. It's gotta be something ground related I think.

Retarded question... by starter relay, you mean the solenoid that's connected to the starter right?

I was in my car, cranking it over and it just stopped and started doing what the video shows. It was working perfectly as expected up until that second.

You have to understand, over the past 10 days or so I have had every single external electrical connection and mechanical part from the driveshaft forward out of the car. I've also had a good bit of the interior out when replacing the ECU, wiring in multiple gauges, and converting the car to a map sensor.

To my knowledge, everything has been returned to the correct location and should be working properly. I asked the question in hopes that someone could give me an idea as to what the potential problem could be. I really do appreciate any advise I can get, but a suggestion to "check everything" doesn't really narrow it down all that much. Sorry if I'm being an ass, I'm kinda frustrated and I guess I was just looking for something a bit more specific.

Im talking about the relay off the starter, I assume you car has one, mine would still make a noise when my solenoid wasn't even on the car.

battery lmao

FUCKING WINNER!

It was the battery. No idea wtf happened, but apparently it decided to freak the fuck out. Won't charge at all on the charger. Threw an old battery in and it fired off and ran perfect.

On another note, FML.

i was going to say battery too.

whenever you have a weird electrical problem always check power and ground first.

That seems so weird to me. I never would have thought it could be the battery, just seems like such a weird problem. Oh well, it's running now, like shit, but it's running.

When I fuel injected the Jeep I had to crank it a million times on an Optima Red Top. Thought it would be fine......it wasn't. Died a week after I got the Jeep running well.

If you've had to mess with starting the car a bunch of times it can kill lesser batteries...and even better batteries.

Had the same shit happen a couple weekends ago. We had a loose battery we were using to fire stuff up. Had just lit the bbc in the stang off, and then was f*ing with the s-blazer. I had fired it a few times, but was dicking with valve adjustments bumping it over and such. Then, click, click, click, ok, direct short the starter noid, nothing. Figure the mini starter took a shit, oh well, swap a known good starter on, still nothing. WTF? - One cell crapped in the battery; it welded the plates and created an internal short. Was working fine, then just nothing; weird crap.
