Alright, i think my battery is about to take a crap and because that happends i want to replace it. I wanted a Optima Yellow Top battery because thats what the guy from Sound Advice recomended. I dont know the differences of power on the 3 optima batteries other then what they are for

Yellow: Sound systems ( i guess it have more juice)
Red: Performance...?
Blue: Marine

I dont know what type of battery to go with here, should i stick with the yellow top? anyone got any feed back or batteries you recommend? I've heard that the gel cels can't be re-charge in which i dont bealive in that because i re-charged myy red tops and they were fine. I do know that when the juice is drain completely on a gel cel battery most likely you lost your battery unlike acid battery (oh and i know is not "acid" In spanish is *agua estila* which is some what some type of water with no minirals which avoids corruption and with electric charges and discharges pretty much being acid.) but anyways which battery you guys recomend?

Thanks.

Note: I just had to re-write this damn thing because when i clicked on "Post New Topic" my internet took a crap.

An Optima will let you keep a more even voltage coming from it. Thus if your lights dim from your stereo and you have a capacitator already, but you're too cheap to upgrade your alternator, an Optima battery is for you. It might not fix it, but it will help some.

You would be best to get the yellow, the red top is more for like, heavy duty usage. Big trucks and stuff like that.

Personally, if your lights don't dim, don't bother. And if they do dim, treat the cause, not the symptoms.

I hear ya Mike, Well my light do Dim, and when my system is cranked up even my RPM needle starts acting up lol + the top posts of the battery are leaking acid and is getting all currupted.

Leaking batteries are bad. I'd get that fixed like a few days ago. Capacitators are always a good thing to have. Even a full farad gets drained pretty quick though.

Capacitors are nice to have, it's just yeah, they do complete quickly depending on what you are running...

They're good for troubleshooting too.. Mine has the display on the side of it to show the voltage.. And depending on voltage reasons, I can easily troubleshoot my amps and subs.

Just to make sure everyone is on the same page;

After the car is started, it runs off the Alt and doesn't charge the batt(unless the alt is dead).

An Optima is a good investment because of it's Dry Cells(mount anywhere safely, no vent) and it has(more often than not) better CCA/CA than reg. wet cell batteries.

The Yellow tops are not known for their longevity, red tops seem to last a good bit longer and 'better' is a relative term.

If you don't plan on leaving your car off and stereo running for hours on end w/o starting, get a red top.

Not true. Everything electrical in the car runs off the battery, the alternator's job is to replenish the battery. If you are asking more from the battery than the alternator can provide you will run into trouble. An alternator does very little at idle and you are mainly running solely off the battery. I run both my cooling fans all the time and my voltage will drop pretty low at idle, especially at night with the lights on. A better battery won't help because I'm asking for more power than the alternator can replace.
