well went to imokalee tonight made 3 runs. this is my first time ever going to the track. I was on the stock blad tires lol so no burnout either.
1st run
60ft 2.65 (wheelhopped like crazy so I just let off completely)
ET 9.2
MPH 84.41
2nd run
60ft 2.4 (so this time forgot to take traction control off)
ET 9.0
MPH 84.25
3rd run
60ft 2.2 (hopped a bit so kinda peddled it, I need some damn DRs)
ET 8.6
MPH 85.39
so im guessing that if im able to hook and keep the wheelhop to a minimum I should be able to get low 8s. I just need to practice this is new to me.

normal over the road tires dont need a big burn out to work properly, just a few rotations to clean them off and get them close to normal operating temps. spinning the tires like mad gets the tires very hot and greasy, not conducive for good traction.
Nice times btw, good improvement in 3 runs. stick wit it and itll get better. and remember that to much traction is when you start to break things, we had a member with a Mach 1 breaking things quite a bit. but then again he could chirp 4th on the street.

i though what hawk said was true until i tried..... 91mkII can vouche for this as well..... not a big smokey burnout but heat them things up man. get some good smoke on the burnout.
i tried it. made launching so much easier. took me from a consistant 2.1 to a consistant 1.9 to 2.0 60ft.
your only problem is the IRS. throw a solid axle and a full slick or drag radial on there and go to town.

Don't worry about getting DR's right now...learn on your street tires and get those times down as much as possible and do it over and over and over...
DR's will mask a lot of mistakes you make and having less traction is always good practice.

Well I went again last friday, and got my time donw to an 8.5 @ 86mph my 60ft times were still shitty. Ive been reading up on this and apparently a lot of guys launch at 2k rpm and get sub 2.0 sec 60fts on street tires. So I might go again next friday and try to get it down.

Agreed, I run BFG G-froce sport tires and a burn out helped a lot. I just put that bitch in 2nd gear hold the burn out for a few seconds and then stag fast!
Also I always wait for the other person to stage before I even burn out. So when I stage the tires are still sticky icky icky!!!!!!

yeah just enough of a burn out o get the tires from cold to the normal operating temp, not saying hold the burn out for ever, but maybe a bit more than just scrubbing the dirt off the tire.
and about the staging thing...lol, way to play the game there.
