I hear ya. That bill pwned me as well. I got off easier than you though. Totally worth it though.

*Back on topic

I'm going to call gil for an alignment. Hopefully he can do it either Thursday or Friday. Brakes may have to wait. I think they are safe enough for auto-x... just keep an eye on my car when you are working on the course. :biggrin

Well I haven't looked at the car in detail yet, but by all the info I've looked up online while at work I think my 1-2 shift fork is bent. :mad Seeing as I have no money right now I'm probly just gonna have to baby the car for a little bit till I have the time to fix it myself.

I was wondering if anyone would be willing to let me codrive their car for sat and sun. I've been looking forward to this event all month and would hate to miss it. :frown

So I went to get an allignment done today. The front went well... 2 degrees neg camber, tracks straight and everything. As for the rear, one of the bolts was seized and was stripped. So I have even camber front and rear :frown

vr_unreality
April 4th, 2008, 05:28 PM
That sucks man. At least that should be easy enough to fix.

On a side note. I think I'm gonna use my car. If it's a bent shift fork it should be fine as long as I don't hard shift. No shifting to 3rd for me either. It's hard to get back down to 2nd. I hope it's a slower technical course.

So yeah... post up some times and thoughts about the weekend. Ya'll will discuss a roll race for 10 pages but when it comes to auto-x no one wants to discuss.

I did an 69.5 The course was epic on sunday. Call me a r00k but I love simple, fast paced courses.

rotodouche
April 6th, 2008, 10:55 PM
ya, the course was super fast. i dont know what my last run was, i think it was my fastest. my second run was an 80 and i was sideways the whole time

vr_unreality
April 6th, 2008, 11:08 PM
Day 1: 88.004
Day 2: 74.995

Loved the day two course. Funny thing is on my fastest run I was swinging it around all the turns. I guess it helped keep up my exit speeds. I was just messing around. I could have been faster if I could have went into third.

STiDriven
April 6th, 2008, 11:13 PM
I was toward the top of 4th and I think pappy said he was on the rev limiter in 4th. Our 4th gears top out at between 98-100. That course was no joke.

Yep the competition was great, I thought I had second place locked up for the weekend and then Nick put down a great last run.

Dave you might have to bring the civic out for the next saturday course b/c it looks like the focus is going to be running.

Dave, didn't you beat the all mighty oliver on Saturday. :hail

Semi Jew
April 7th, 2008, 03:42 PM
i didnt even beat brent on sunday... i fucked up all three runs.

the one where it was slightly wet it felt awesome, but the rain tripped the timers and i had to re-run :frown

no more sandbagging the first one on sundays, too risky if i fuck up the other two.

STiDriven
April 7th, 2008, 03:47 PM
Oh snap. A lot of underdogs were victorious this month.

Semi Jew
April 7th, 2008, 04:14 PM
yeah, my runs were as such.

1: off-course, went in way too fast at the gate before second slalom.
2: went up to 4th instead of down to 2nd... clean run but slow.
3a: awesome, slightly wet, but my car didn't care - rain tripped timers, had to re-run.
3b: understeered same place as run 1 - had a cone or would have won the tour.

ah well, still got some improvement to do.

Pappy
April 7th, 2008, 06:43 PM
the car isnt 100% yet.
next month i will be happier with it set up and all

April 8th, 2008, 08:45 AM
Brent, thanks for helping me with my leak. I can't wait 'til your car is better prepared. Even with it screwed up you still almost handed it to me again. I wish I would have used that camera for my last run. Side A still could have been 1/2 second faster for me. All of the strightaway time with little transition kind of equalized the street tires and r-comps, but still the ZO6 and SM guys should have been faster.

I can't wait either. I won't be there for the whole test-n-tune as I have to take my entrance exam, but hopefully I can unwind afterwards out on the track. I really lucked out this weekend getting a re-run, but still I am excited to be improving.

You did great considering your lack of experience. Are you going to be able to run in B-stock or have you made modifications already that would need to be removed? The rx-8 owns BS if you are willing to keep learning and eventually go to r-comps. But my brother said he was impressed after riding with you on Saturday.

thanks man, i had a ball. there was a guy with some coilovers on rx-8 club that i was thinking about getting, and i was gonna get smaller wheels. im thinking about de-modding some and running b stock. is it a popular class?

veloce23
April 8th, 2008, 09:32 PM
The class is very popular with Jason, Leo, Bill running 350z's, and Keith Robertson running his E36 M3 sometimes. Jason is amazing, so you could learn alot. On the east coast the ER club always has a nice B-Stock turn out. Nationally it is a huge class. I would definitely run B-Stock if I had an RX-8. STU and the other available classes for it are too expensive IMO, and the cars become less drivable. Don't be hard headed like my brother who wants to avoid going to r-comps. If you like the sport and want to be competitive, tires are less expensive in the long run. But, you are more than welcome to run STU. It is a fun class, but would be hard to win in that car. I probably could get third in the car, but I couldn't beat Ron Assee and certainly not Brent.

rotodouche
April 8th, 2008, 09:49 PM
ya, i just need to get rid of my hood and front clip and id be legal i think. i need to check the rules again. thats probably what ill do.

rotodouche
April 8th, 2008, 09:51 PM
are you allowed to run coilovers in b stock? it says shocks/springs are allowed. can you run smaller than normal wheels?

veloce23
April 8th, 2008, 10:34 PM
I am pretty sure that the answer is no to both. Usually 100% prep is front sway bar, cat back, and adjustable struts. You would be surprised with the handling once these mods are complete. The rx-8 should be able to get decent negative camber with stock adjustability, but even if not, then neither can your competition.

rotodouche
April 8th, 2008, 10:40 PM
ya, i was just looking over the rule book. id have to take a bunch of parts off. i dont think its worth it

Pappy
April 9th, 2008, 07:52 PM
just get as much seat time as possible. its the only way to get better.

I think you will learn faster on street tires( you will see your mistakes better), so stu will be a good class
