I saw one out there before and i don't think it did to well. The only problem you would have with the srt is that it would make to much power to quickly and all you would do is spin. But that is just my guess. I have never driven one.
What I would say is just come out and see what it does, there is no harm in trying. they are the first weekend of each month usually. Auto-x (http://www.gulfcoastautocrossers.com/2008schedule.htm)

You'll have a lot of fun. I don't see why srt's couldn't do a decent job out there.
Just do the novice school and take it slow.

If I had one, I would definitely autocross it. The car is not near the top cars in its classes (DS and STU), but the driver will be far more of a limiting factor than the car. A guy on the east coast (ER) took 3rd last month in STU, beating 5 STI's and 3 EVO's. I'd love to try it on the test-n-tune track.

Yeah, dont worry about the car... there are some people with mustangs and camaros... speaking of cars that dont turn. :biggrin
But its mostly about the driver, and having fun.

The newer mustangs do have a bit more capabilities than the older ones... there is the one guy out there with the seafoam green color that is decently quick in it.

Yeah Terry Silvernail runs his GT well, but the car is even more capable than he is showing. I have driven both the GT and the Shelby GT, and I was very surprised. You guys should know that the regular GT consistently spanks the Infiniti G35, and the Shelby package crushes it. At nationals, the G35 is lucky to finish in the top twenty behind all GT's. I will definitely not be trading in the STI anytime soon for, but in stock form, the car DOES handle well. "Incredible" should only be used for Porsche GT3's and Lotus Elise's.

you forget stis and evos with KWs John :ugh
I'm impressed with the handling on the mustangs out there that say Shelby GT/CS on the side. Don't know what that means... probably Club Sport or something.

B/c of the brakes? You're a slacker man. If you're gonna miss auto-x b/c you broke something, you gotta go big, not some stupid wear part. :biggrin

Hopefully the MS3 will be in the body shop by then so either the focus or the rental will be out for points on Sunday running in DSP.
The focus will be out saturday for a shake down, it still needs some miles on it to get the clutch broke in but should be fine since I am dd'ing it.

The rotors are on backorder EVERYWHERE! Unless I want to spend $1600 at the dealership for new rotors. Gruppe-s said I should have them in 1-2 weeks and that was the soonest anyone can get them for an 04 STi. It's been 1 week.
I am a slacker though.

Here's your mission: Go to advance autoparts, buy the cheapest breakpads they have for your car. They're $36 bucks. If the rotors are off an '04 there's no reason they should be SOO beat up that you can't use them. That'll get you safely back on the road and out to autocross until the new rotors/pads come in.

briton just get the fucking rotors turned until you can find some shit, jesus.
andrew, you can use the civic for DSP if no focus... it'll be better than some shitbox rental.

I already disessembled everthing preparing for the wheel stud install. I'm too lazy to put it all back together then take it all back apart when the rotors come.

I can't count the times I had to tear apart the front end of the focus and put it back together so it would roll. Remember practice makes perfect.
Dave, thanks for the office we will see how it goes next Saturday.
