I've been wanting to take my mini autocrossing for a while now, and now that its summer I finnaly have time. I know there is somewhere local that people go to autocross but im not positive on where it is. Anybody have good beginner information on autocrossing and directions to where this place is?
Thanks in advance.

Whats wrong with your car? I didn't realize there are seasons, that sucks that we are out of season right now.

Yeah the closest autocross will probably be July 26th at Moroso, through ER. Their web site is www.erscc.com (http://www.erscc.com) click on the calender on the right and you should be able to find the next event. Also, Porsche club events are great too if they have any going this summer.

So how do you guys keep your skills fresh while waiting for the season to begin? Are there any road courses reasonably close to here? Starting to really get the racing bug.

my skills are Fresh!!!!! road racing is alittle too pricey to be doing as practice for AutoX
heres a tip for you Slower is Faster. Ive autocrossed both FWD and Rwd and it seems FWD keeping the understeering to the minimum and keeping the lines smooth. In the RWD's i just let it all hang out. Had to make Burny look bad in his own car.

You could autocross 2-3 times a month without having to leave South Florida, but you would have to do it with other clubs. The websites to the four that are closest to Ft Myers are:
www.gulfcoastautocrossers.com (http://www.gulfcoastautocrossers.com) (next event is Sep 6th & 7th)
www.cfrsolo2.com (http://www.cfrsolo2.com) (July 19th & 20th in Brooksville, Aug 9th & 10th in Brooksville, then Aug 16th & 17th at Brevard Community College)
www.erscc.com (http://www.erscc.com) (July 26th at Moroso Motorsports Park)
www.pca.org (http://www.pca.org) (none listed)
For the last two, you can find out event dates through:
www.driverregistration.com (http://www.driverregistration.com)
Some people autocross almost every weekend, but they cover the whole state and other states as well. Each club does things differently, which I like.

I know that my brother is probably planning to, but I won't be back until July 25th. I am tempted to go to Moroso on the 26th, but I need to change my brake pads first. And I will have crazy jet lag for at least a week. The Moroso event is at night though. Those night events on the kart track are fun. But it isn't necessarily autocrossing. They can only do so much with cone placement.
