Ok, well the MSM needs some new tires... i'm looking for something with decent grip, but drivable in the rain and with not terrible treadwear. I'm currently looking at Falkin Azenis RT-615's, I had them on the tibby and they grip great! One or two other people with MSM's use them and report they like them. The TWR is only 200 but it seemed like I had them on the tibby for quite some time. Anyone used them before? Anyone use anything similar? These will be for DD but I would also like them to grip fairly good for auto-x and the strip, any suggestions would be appreciated.
BTW i'm looking for 215/40/17's

corners there great straight line isnt so good because of the sidewall.i wouldnt expect too many miles out of them either.alot of guys here use them and im sure theyll give you a better opinion than i do.

they lasted 10,000 miles on the evo with me beating the shit out of the tires like i usually do.
they are great in corners, they were great in a straight line for me... but that's not saying much. billy says his are fine from a dig. not like dr-good or anything though.

straight line they don't get great of traction, but they are awesome in the corners. also I never had any problems doing about 100+ ish in the rain with no hydro planning. but they wear down fast. plus I would go with a 215/45/17

The 215/40/17's are already taller and wider than the stock tires. Going with an even taller tire is going to make him rub, make his speedometer even farther off, and make the car slower

Yea what Scott said. Stock is 205/40/17 which is what i'm running now and 215/40/17 is the largest I can fit on the stock rim without rubbing so that's what i'm going to go with.
96ekhatch: you're making more power than me and you're fwd. I'm only making about 195whp and I have rwd on my side, you're making like close to 250whp aren't you? And i'm only planning on going to like 210-220whp when all is said and done so I don't think i'll have the traction problems that you do. I'm going for an extremely safe/reliable tune for a fun DD.

I didn't know what your stock tire size was. I was just saying 45 because 40 is really short. I guess in your case that would be best for you. I'm using 235/40/17 now and on my focus I had 215/45/17 azenis, my stock on the focus was 205/50/16 I think.either way they are really fun dd tires but they only last about 3 or 4 months

Really, that's it?? I coulda sworn I got close to a year out of mine when I had em on the tibby. How many miles did you drive about and did you do alot of auto-x and shit? And I know you didn't know my size, I appreciate the input though. I probably would go with 45 but it would rub.

40 is really short, but then again a 17 inch wheel on a miata is freakin ginormous. I dunno what mazda was thinking, that car definitely shoulda come with 16's, or even 15's, IMO.

i have had mine for a while for dd and they have lasted about 7 months already. They still have good tread.
I would recommend the bf goodrich g force. I loved them when i had them on my srt4

Yea, they've always come with 15's or 16's. The NC comes with 17's but it's higher up(put yours next to it and it will look like it's on stilts lol). Mine has the 17's but is lowered an inch from the factory which makes my stock height closer to yours. I like it alot for DD because I think the 15's look too small on it but for auto-x I wish I had a set of 15's to swap on.

i dont waste money on azenis i just get rs2's. cheaper and the grip is awesome, and the treadwear is good too

rs2's aren't always cheaper then azenis's. I've seen them more expensive. plus the sidewall on the rs2's aren't as stiff.i dont waste money on azenis i just get rs2's. cheaper and the grip is awesome, and the treadwear is good too
I ran 3 or so autox on them and beating the living shit out of them.

Where is that at? Alot of the places I would get mine from including edge racing are out of stock of both. I need 215/40/17's.

Falken fk452 are some good tires. I have them on my car now and the get really good traction in the dry and wet. Not sure on the treadlife they seem to wear somewhat fast, but they are stickyer tires.

I always buy from edgeracing but they don't have the azenis or rs2's in my size in stock.

I use Azenis. they are real nice tires. They do wear quickly, just depends on your driving habits. Im front wheel drive so I only buy 2 at a time and rotate. I dont need Drag radials on all fours. too expensive. but if ur into auto x, I guess u need them all.
I got them for 220 shipped to my door.

Yea they are 107 shipped for my 215/40/17's and they're finally in stock again. I think I am probably gonna go with the rs2's though, they're like the same price.

Mine are 215/40/17. I thought the price was pretty good. The lower tread level keeps your tires from the squirm that alot of new tires have. better performance, I think.

azenis suck bottom line unless you autocross hear they are good. A car with 250+ will be worthless on azenis. I have had better like with bf g forces but they a little more cash

I might try those next to see any traction differences.
